Cloud services provide significant benefits for small and medium businesses such as lower costs, easier management, scalability, and device/location independence. There are different types of cloud services including public, private, hybrid, and community clouds. While cloud services offer advantages, they also present challenges related to data protection, recovery, and management capabilities. The report evaluates cloud computing models of software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and provides examples of companies that offer each type. It also describes common components that enable cloud platforms like virtualization, web services, orchestration, and client-side interfaces.

A cloud is a visible mass of liquid droplets or frozen crystals made of water and/or various
chemicals suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of a planetary body. They are also
known as aerosols. Clouds in earth’s atmosphere are studied in the cloud physics branch of
meteorology. Two processes, possibly acting together, can lead to air becoming saturated:
cooling the air or adding water vapor to the air. In general, precipitation will fall to the surface;
an exception is virga, which evaporates before reaching the surface.
