- No subject limits c1,025 English language law journals, reviews etc Published in USA, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia & NZ & Netherlands (Kluwer & Brill)
- Point out Find it at Oxford – stress importance not to limit the searches to Full text results only!
- Earlier years (1960-1983) are available electronically – but search facility not so good. Foreign is defined as nations/jurisdictions other than USA, UK, Australia, Canada, NZ Public international law eg George Washington International Law Review (USA) Comparative law Religious legal systems Socialist law Private International Law Conventions when dealing with languages which do not use the Western/Roman script Greek/Cyrillic languages are romanized; Arabic/Hebrew translated into English or French Note that IFLP is hosted within HeinOnline – which brings some advantages of which
- Unfortunately IFLP doesn’t seem to understand wildcards very well!
- Human Rights as subject heading search – 9647 hits!! So look at left hand column options eg – what are your language strengths (or weaknesses?) IFLP requires “ “ to recognise a phrase BUT be warned wildcards (? Or *) are unreliable.
- Be sure to remember your username and password Save good search strings Set up eToC (Table of contents) alerts for “most useful” journals
- These alert you to where Hein has found instances where this article has been cited in later articles – can of course be very useful. Clicking on the Cited by button means you can follow this trail quickly
- However Clicking on the Cited by means you have left IFLP and are now just working within Hein’s own collection of law journals….
- An example of an article which is in a journal not within Hein’s Collection. Unlike ILP there is no find it at Oxford button – but do copy and paste the title of the Journal (not the article) into SOLO
