iLab 7 of 7: Tracking Project Progress
Now that the baseline is set, project work can begin. We can use MS Project to
track our project's progress and compare it to our baseline. Comparing to the
baseline allows us to check our progress against the schedule and budget. When
negative variances occur, we are either behind schedule or over budget, so we
know that corrective actions are necessary. In this week's iLab, we will:
General Comments about the Microsoft Project Exercises
Compare baseline data to actual and scheduled data. View a network diagram.
Overview the Earned Value calculations in MS Project.
Guidelines
Complete Lesson 7. Print the Project Summary Report. Print the Overbudget
Tasks Report. (Print on one page) Print the Earned Value Report.
Deliverables
All of the following deliverables are required (in a zip file) to receive full credit:
Completed MyLab7_XXX.mpp Completed Review Questions
Printouts/Screenshots contained in Week_7_Printouts_XXX.docx
When submitting required printouts (if you are not bringing them to class), take a
screenshot (in Windows <ALT><PrtScr>) of the report from the Print Preview
page and paste the screenshot to an MS Word Document. Make sure to crop the
screen to show only the report. After cropping, resize the image appropriately. If
the printout is on more than one page, paste each page individually.
Save the Word document containing printouts as Week_7_Printouts_XXX.docx,
and submit this file to the Week 7 iLabDropbox in a zip file along with the
MyLab7_XXX.mpp file and the completed Review Questions at the end of Lesson
7. Remember to replace "XXX" in all the file names with your initials, and ensure
that all of your files are clearly labeled.
