2. A Brief History
• The earliest video game was the “Cathode Ray Tube
Amusement Device” created in 1947
• The video game market truly began with success of
pong, made by Atari in 1972. In 1975, a home version
was created.
• In 1983, the market crashed horribly, mostly due to
the over-saturation of low quality games (E.T., etc.)
• In 1985 Nintendo introduced the Famicom (known as
the NES in the U.S.), which revitalized the dead video
game market and opened the way for video games as
we know them today
4. When they were first invented, video games were little
more than simple toys, even though they used some of the
most advanced technology of their time.
With the rapid expansion of the video game market since
1985, has the basic definition of video games changed?
Their content has certainly changed. Their technology has
certainly changed. Their popularity has certainly changed.
There is no simple way to classify video games now, but
here are a few possibilities:

seem to also inspire bad habits such as laziness
or even addiction?
