What is  Social Media?
Social Media Tools Blogging Social Networks Social Networks allow for networking, sharing information,  and  meeting new people. Short for “Web log,” blogs allow for an author to make posts and receive feedback via a commenting function. Microblogging Media sharing Short pieces of information are picked up in a real-time feed, allowing it to spread “virally” in a short period of time. Some sites act as hosts for pictures and video, allowing users to share them by posting links and embedding them into Web pages.

Social Media Goals Reputation: Promote positive news about Chamber/GO Topeka happenings and counter false/negative information Relationships: Engage the Topeka community in a positive, friendly way to build strong relationships and help stoke community pride attractive to incoming businesses Retention: Help local businesses interact with the public to foster growth and success Recruitment: Network with developers, consultants, and site selectors to build relationships that could help bring opportunities for new primary jobs to Topeka. Research: Follow trends and conversations happening among active, engaged Topekans. VISIBILITY MESSAGE BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
