The market capitalisation (m-cap) of seven of the country's top-10 firms
diminished by Rs 49,445 crore
CIL's scrip plunged 5.84 per cent last week and had closed at Rs 312.55 on
the Bombay Stock Exchange.
•Reliance Industries (RIL) saw its valuations eroding by Rs 11,224.26 crore
to Rs 3,14,982.94 crore.
ONGC shed Rs 6,256 crore from its m-cap which was Rs 2,64,385.72 crore.

Ambani has been ranked at 20th position in the
ICIS Top 100 Chemicals Companies list
•Terming RIL and Chinese major PetroChina
among the major climbers on the li
•Reliance is a candidate for major acquisitionst

•LyondellBasell has been ranked fifth in the list
after BASF, Dow Chemical, ExxonMobil and
Sinopec
•the Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited, its joint
venture with the Kirloskar Group.
•TKM targets to sell 70,000 units of Etios in the first
year.
•the sedan would compete with the likes of Swift Dzire
and Tata Manza and the hatchback with Hyundai i20,
Maruti Swift, Ford Figo and Polo of Volkswagen.
•Private power producers will invest about Rs 91,000 crore in Tamil Nadu
in the next three to five years to generate 18,140 MW
•Private power developers are putting up plants with a capacity of 18140
MW. These initiatives will bring investment of about Rs 91,000 crore in
the next three to five years
•Tamil nadu has a huge capacity of 5,400 MW of wind energy, with an
additional potential of 5,530 MW and 80 MW of bagasse based co-
generation plants
Power generation in the state has doubled in the last seven years, the
demand too has increased from 4652 MW in 2002-03 to 7786 MW upto
March 2011, units with an investment of nearly Rs 40,000 crore will start
production in the statein
2010-11 and to bridge this gap and emerge as a power hub in the country,
the state has inked 47 MOUs to produce 58,000 MW of power in next few
years
At present 13 power projects are being constructed and in the next three
years 5000 MW of additional power will be generated in the state.
