The jaguar is the largest cat in the Americas. It has a compact yellow and tan coat with black spots and powerful jaws. Jaguars can be found from Arizona and New Mexico down to Patagonia, though they are rare in the US and endangered. They live alone in diverse habitats from forests to grasslands, and have home ranges from 10-53 square miles.
