Quality Hunters is a social media initiative, run by Finnair and Helsinki Airport, that aims at developing new and existing services for air travel. In my presentation I will talk about how these two organisations are utilising social media in service development, engaging the online community and how social media has shaped how organisations communicate and engage with their customers.

This is a huge number, reflecting the enormous international popularity of the project. From the thousands who applied, we chose as Hunters Christina, Ella, Warren and Wolfgang, who are now blogging, sharing photos and telling about their experiences at the address http://rethinkquality.finnair.com/. Discussion and observations on Finnair’s product and service have been fascinating.At best, the Rethink Quality website has been visited by more than 10,000 readers per day, and the quartet’s blogs have already been read by hundreds of thousands of visitors from a total of 185 countries.The media have also shown interest in the Quality Hunters – our visibility in the world has increased sixfold in September-October since the campaign started. We have reached a total of more than 300 million readers.This week Christina will tour Eastern Europe and Warren the Nordic countries. Ella and Wolfgang, on the other hand, will visit Asia: Ella will acquaint herself with Finnish Lapland and Thailand, while Wolfgang is heading for China.
