4. THE AUTHOR, SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland
in 1859.
He studied medicine and worked as a doctor for 8 years,
but he needed more money , so began writing short
stories for weekly magazines.
Sherlock Holmes appeared in his first novel ,
“ A study in Scarlet.”
Holmes appeared again in “The Sign of Four” and in
other thriller stories
He invented -with Poe- the thriller and fantasy genre
Conan Doyle died 1930
