I bet you know what I’m talking about. It’s almost like those of us that are in the know have a secret wink. So why is the rest of the corporate world so resistant?
The fact is that many people are choosing to take control of their own destiny even if they’ve been working for the same employer for years
One of things that you often miss is is what we often call the Water Cooler Moment. Those chance meetings, the value add to being part of a team. If we help poeopleby providing those moments we are onto something.
Which brings me onto validation. It’s a basic human need, but we all need to know that we are on the right track. That we are part of a tribe that is going places.
You might not be able to ask for it, but we all need it. Good old fashioned empathetic hugs. That goes a long way to helping people fell that they aren’t going insane working on their own and that they’ve got someone to talk to

So in our brave new world, we’d call this the company of others. One where you can be your own boss but have access to the resources, skills and infrasctructure that are part and parcel of working in an organisation – but without any of the crap.
So what do we need to provide for people to help them make that leap into the unknowen and make a life doing the things that they enjoy.
After all, there’s no reason why you need to give up your right to indepennce and control in order to be part of a team. It’s just a different model.
