• He was a French film critic and theorist.
• He studied many post war films.
• He published a book on his findings titled “What
is Film?”

3. The Main Concepts of Bazin’s Theory
• His main views and interpretations were highly
focused on media products with ‘objective
reality’- these would be films like documentaries.
• He argued that these films reflect a personal
vision through the use of mise-en-scene.
• He also argued that films should be interpreted
by an audience so they are open for criticism of
others.
