I have worked hard to achieve a balance between vocational, creative, and academic
activities over the course of my career to date. I have been able to frame much of
my experience as an artist, self-employed company director, and music
composer/producer, through my academic studies and subsequent teaching career
during the last eight years. I have a great deal of experience of collaboration in
business, artistic, and academic practices, as well as experience in self-motivated and
self-directed employment, artistic practice, and academic research and writing.
I believe that the combination of my teaching career, doctoral research, and on-going
vocational/creative activities, illustrate my commitment to engaging with ‘real world’
activities, in tandem with investigating societal/cultural processes. This approach
has allowed me to benefit from both experience and theory. This ‘portfolio’ career
has given, and continues to give me invaluable skills across a range of disciplines and
areas of human activity.
