1. Learn about pinging and web 2.0 "layering" technique
Hi!
Yesterday I received email from one of my readers. She read this post - Small guide on how to
use web 2.0 properties for backlinking and asked me about pinging. So I naturally thought that a
short article about this topic might be useful for someone else. And I've also included some
interesting info about web 2.0 properties.
What is pinging?
Pinging is notifying search engine bots to come to your site and crawl for updates. So when
you've added a new article, or new page, or changed/edited anything, you need a ping. Without
ping your updates could stay there unnoticed for days/weeks. You don't need to do pinging
on wordpress.com sites, they do it automatically, and your own site does the same if you have
Google xml sitemaps (Wordpress plugin) installed.
But sites like yola, weebly, blogger (I think blogger does have something, but I'm not sure, better
create a ping, it takes seconds anyways) and especially wikipedia's, academia's and similar ones
need pings.
Here are some best pinging tools:

You need just 1 ping with any of those. It's good idea to use different pinging tools from time to
time, not just the same tool over and over. Pingomatic is the fastest service, but it notifies the
least services (not that it's not enough). And Feedshark has the mostoptions and it's great for your
personal blog/website.
You don't need to know anything else about pinging. Just don't spam (don't update too
frequently). Use one of those services after you've finished everything on your web 2.0 site,
once.
Web 2.0 layering is rather unknown technique. Basically, your web 2.0 sites act like a protective
layer for your main "money site".
