SCREEN PRINTING
Screen printing is used for printing
on T-Shirts and billboards any other
stock which is not suitable for other
process. It is also used for CD
printing and graphics.
DIGITAL PRINTING
Digital printing, a fast developing
technology, is a modern method of
printing without the need for a printing
press or the creation of a printing
plate, and includes ink-jet and laser
printing.
Images are sent directly to a printer
using graphics software such as
InDesign or Illustrator, and digital
files such as PDFs, for printing in an
office environment. It is ideal for on
demand printing jobs, variable
printing and fine art printing.
ENGRAVING
Engraving creates a raised
surface on paper while
inking. A metal die is
created with an impression
which is cut into the surface
and filled with opaque
engraving ink. When
pressed against the paper,
it creates raised areas which
are coated with ink.
FLEXOGRAPHY
Used for product packaging, it uses plastic
or rubber printing plates that are flexible, to
print on foil, plastic, brown paper, acetate
film and all types of packaging materials.
Typical applications are milk cartons, candy
wrappers, plastic bags, disposable cups and
all types of paper such as envelopes,
newspapers and labels.
GRAVURE
Commonly used for packaging and
labels in extremely large catalog and
magazine runs gravure is a process
that is mostly used for fine art prints.
LETTERPRESS
Letterpress is the oldest printing
technique known, pioneered in the 15th
Century by Johannes Gutenberg. Ink is
applied to a raised portion of the plastic
or metal printing plate, which is applied
to the paper, leaving an inked
impression.
OFFSET LITHOGRAPHY
This process of printing uses printing
plates on flat surfaces. Water and ink is
applied to the image on a printing plate
which is chemically treated so that only
the colors, types and shape on the plate
will accept ink.
REPROGRAPHICS
A term for duplication or photocopying
images that are a virtual likeness of the
original. The process can be electronic,
mechanical or photographic such as
xerography, photocopying, scanning or
digital printing.
THERMOGRAPHY
Thermography is commonly known as
“poor man’s engraving” and is used for
stationery printing. A special powder is
applied to a document which adheres to
the ink on the paper.
