- 7. Fact File Do you know why manhole covers are round??? This is to avoid accidents. Since man holes covers are round they do not fall down when somebody stands on them. If they were square or rectangular , they could have fallen down. What is BOD ??? BOD stands for Biochemical Oxygen Demand.
