2. Initial Research
To be able to follow conventions the first thing I had to do was learn
the conventions. This was done through deconstructions of other
media products such as short films and movie posters.
I found the most common conventions were a victim,
typically is alone throughout the events of the film,
darkness and a threat. My movie primarily follows these
three conventions.
3. Why I chose my genre
Before I get into the conventions I follow, develop and challenge, I must first explain why the
genre of horror was my choice.
The first thing I did was see why Horror movies are so popular in the first place, looking online I
found an article (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/07/070725152040.htm)
explaining why it is that horror movies are so popular.
The horror genre itself is very flexible in terms of
the number of sub genres available already. A few
of these sub genres include, action horror, body
horror, comedy horror, Gothic horror and
psychological horror. Out of this selection I chose
to follow conventions of the psychological horror
aspects as a pose to action and Gothic, however my
movie does contain minor and few aspects of all
three.

6. Research I did before construction my

Before construction my movie poster and review page I first researched
into other movie poster and review pages, I looked at the conventions
that they used and began to follow their conventions and implement into
my own... The next slide compares my poster with a previously
researched poster...
7. Comparing my film poster with another in
the same genre...
Although not entirely similar they do
share conventions of horror.

8. How my media product (ancillary poster) looks in a real world setting.
How my media product looks in a real
world environment.
This was done using a website called photofunia.com. Using this website gave
me a fairly accurate representation on how my review and poster media
products would look in a real word setting.
