4. • Groups first have to seek out a large table • Singles not meeting anyone are focused, get in line • Those meeting others are distracted, sometimes uncomfortable, keeping an eye out What next? Coffeehouse protocol?

5. Settling In • Companion: laptop, book, or friends/colleagues • Lengthy stay • Appetite is gradually developed Staying longer than you expected?

6. Departure • Group usually leaves all together • But occasionally one by one • At busy times, no table stays vacant for long

7. Conclusions and Theories • Obligation to buy • Quantity of goods vs. quantity of consumers • Confidence in groups • Purpose-driven consumers • Following the protocol
