Tier 2 Environmental reviewsABI working in coordination with City and ARC to take the next step in the federal transit funding process: initiating the Tier 2 Environmental Reviews for Atlanta BeltLine West and East corridors. This is the final phase of the environmental process. The first phase, which we completed with MARTA in August 2012, was the Tier 1 EIS for the 22-mile Atlanta BeltLine corridor.
Environmental AssessmentWe are proposing to conduct two separate Environmental Assessments – one which covers Atlanta BeltLine West corridor and another which covers Atlanta BeltLine East corridor.Atlanta BeltLine West corridor EA will study from the West End MARTA area to the Bankhead MARTA areaAtlanta BeltLine East corridor EA will study from Glenwood Park area to the Piedmont Park areaThe process environmental assessments will begin by this summer. The public will be included involved in the process through our community engagement process.
Environmental AssessmentAtlanta BeltLine West corridor – which MARTA stations to connect to at either end of the project (see dashed lines on the attached map)Atlanta BeltLine East corridor – how to cross Hulsey Yard and connect to MARTA (see dashed lines on the attached map)Completing this process will allow the Atlanta BeltLine to remain competitive for federal transit funding and position the project to continue as a regional transit priority.Completing this process these Environmental Assessments will also ensure that we involve the public and stakeholders in the process of developing transit on the Atlanta BeltLine and that we develop plans to mitigate any impacts that my be identified as part of the study.
ABI has teamed with the City to help manage the execution of several GDOT and grant projects We will reach out to the community as the design develops for both the TCSP and LCI grants.
