7. Cinnamon
● Cinnamon is a GTK+ 3-based desktop environment.
The project originally started as a fork of the GNOME
Shell, i.e. a mere graphical shell. Cinnamon was initially
developed by (and for) the Linux distribution Linux Mint.
● Because the Cinnamon desktop environment intends to
implement a different graphical user interface (GUI)
than GNOME desktop environment, many of the GNOME
Core Applications were forked, so that their GUIs can be
rewritten appropriately. Cinnamon 2.2 running on Linux
Mint 17 (Qiana)

8. Unity
● Unity is a graphical shell for the GNOME desktop
environment developed by Canonical Ltd. for its Ubuntu
operating system. Unity debuted in the netbook edition of
Ubuntu 10.10. It was initially designed to make more efficient
use of space given the limited screen size of netbooks,
including, for example, a vertical application switcher called
the launcher, and a vertical space saver multipurpose top
menu bar.
● Unlike GNOME, KDE Software Compilation, Xfce, or
LXDE, Unity is not a collection of applications but is designed
to use existing programs.

9. GnomeShell

GNOME Shell is the official user interface of the
GNOME desktop environment. It features a top bar
holding (from left to right) an Activities button, an application
menu, a clock and an integrated system status menu.The
application menu displays the name of the application in focus
and provides access to functions such as accessing the
application's preferences, closing the application, or
creating a new application window. The status menu holds
various system status indicators, shortcuts to system settings,
and session actions including logging out, switching users,
locking the screen, and suspending the computer. run on
multiple operating systems, its main focus being those
based on the Linux kernel

● Debian systems currently use the Linux kernel or the
FreeBSD kernel. Linux is a piece of software started by Linus
Torvalds and supported by thousands of programmers
worldwide. FreeBSD is an operating system including a
kernel and other software. Debian is especially popular
among advanced users because of its technical excellence
and its deep commitment to the needs and expectations
of the Linux community. Debian also introduced many
features to Linux that are now commonplace. package
