Research In Motion Limited (RIM) is a designer, manufacturer and marketer of wireless solutions for the worldwide mobile
communications market. RIM provides platforms and solutions for access to information, including e-mail, voice, instant
messaging, short message service (SMS), Internet and intranet-based applications and browsing. RIM’s portfolio includes the
BlackBerry wireless solution, the RIM Wireless Handheld product line, software development tools and other software and
hardware. On June 2, 2010, Harman International sold its software operating systems unit, QNX Software Systems, to the
Company. On March 25, 2011, RIM purchased 100% of the shares of a company whose technology is being incorporated into the
Company’s developer tools. On April 26, 2011, the Company purchased certain assets of a company whose acquired
technologies will be incorporated into the Company’s products. In June 2011, the Company acquired Scoreloop. For the fiscal
year ended 26 February 2011, Research In Motion Limited's revenues increased 33% to $19.91B. Net income increased 39% to
$3.4B. Revenue reflects an increase in income due to increase in sales of the company. Net income also reflects an increase in
gross profit margin, an absence of litigation expenses and a decrease in foreign exchange loss. The Company is a world leader in
the mobile communication market.
