2. TARGET AUDIENCE PROFILE
Gender: My primary target audience is predominantly female, this is due to
the character in my production being female, this allows the audience to be
able to identify with her
Age: The target age group for my production is 16-20, this is to allow the
audience to once again relate to the character. It also means that the
audience can form a relationship with the character. The fairy-tale aspect of
my music video also means that a younger audience would be attracted to
my music video, this is because it is more plausible for younger audiences.
Ethnicity: My music video is targeted at a white British audience, this is due
to the actress choice of the same ethnicity and also due to the british
aspects of the music video such as the ‘tea party’ scene. However saying
this, other ethnicities may be attracted to the video because of the appeal of
a different culture.
Media interests: In terms of psychographics, I assume that my audience will
3. AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
To get feedback from my target audience,
my teacher gave questionnaires to another A
Level media class of the same age group
(17-18) this enabled me to find out areas
that I could have improved on and also areas
that the audience enjoyed. This
questionnaire was important in order to find
out if I had addressed my target audience
effectively. This was also beneficial as it
meant that the reviews weren't biased as I
was not present when feedback was being
given.
4. MUSIC VIDEO PRODUCTION
FEEDBACK
The questionnaire that I used consists of 13 questions
which enabled the audience to feedback on every aspect of
my video. Questions 1-4 ask the audience whether they
were interested in my production and focused on the score
of the mise en scene, camerawork and editing. I calculated
an average of the first 4 questions and overall the females
gave a better rating with an average score of 4 out of 5
whereas the males gave an average score of 3 out of 5.
therefore from this questionnaire it confirms that my
target audience of females found the production more
engaging and more interesting. My music video functions
as entertainment (Laswell) which could add to the appeal
of the music video. The video also features as a diversion
(Blumler and Katz) from the real world which the audience
may be able to relate to.
5. MUSIC VIDEO PRODUCTION
FEEDBACK
Questions 5-9 focus on the length of the music video, would you
watch again and is there anything you didn’t understand. From the
feedback, overall I found that the track length was the correct length
for my target audience and that 5 out of 9 people would watch the
video again. This allowed me to come to the conclusion that I had
edited my music video to the standard required by my audience.
Questions 8 and 9 found that the audience of both genders didn't’t
find the video offensive or confusing, therefore the music video was
suited for my audience demographic.
Question 10 was the most important question in relation to the
audience highlighting what my strengths were. In my production, a
favorite aspect was the Alice In Wonderland theme. The various
answers allowed me to discover that the male viewers favorite part of
the video was the end shot, this told me that their favorite aspect was
was the composition of that shot. From this feedback it allowed me to
6. MUSIC VIDEO PRODUCTION
FEEDBACK
In the final part of my questionnaire, I found that on all of the
questionnaires, the audience felt that the video reflected the
style of the music, this is a good review as it was one of my
main aims whilst planning the music video. However, although
all said that the production reflected the music, some
questionnaires stated that they felt that the video didn’t
promote the band. (comments) Saying this I made sure the
name of the band was very clear in my print productions.
The final section of the questionnaire was addressing the
overall score of my music video, when looking over all the
scores I calculated the average score which came out at 4. the
females rated the music video higher than the males, I can only
assume that this was because when making the video it was
7. PRINT PRODUCTIONS
FEEDBACK
Not only did I receive feedback for my music video, I also received feedback
for my print productions. This was beneficial to me in order to determine if
my target audience felt that the digipack reflected the music video in order
to create a coherent product.
In order to gain feedback I put both my digipack and review sheet on various
social media, this enabled me to gain feedback from complete strangers with
no bias.
Both male and female reviewers highly rated the Alice in Wonderland theme
and felt that the package successfully promoted my band ‘Kings and Crows’
which was my main priority. My audience suggested that the band were
promoted due to the ‘band name on both panel one and panel 4’
During developing my print productions I was able to gain continuous
feedback from my tutor by putting up ‘works in progress’ onto my blog. This
allowed me to improve upon my work.
8. PRINT PRODUCTIONS
FEEDBACK
The overall response to my digipack was positive. My target audience
felt as though my use of graphics, text and overall finish of the
designs were good, they were scored an average of 4 from both male
and female viewers, this is important as it means that it appeals to
them which means they would buy the digipack. overall from the
question asked, reviewers did say they would buy the digipack based
on the images.
