MAIT Program deals with The improvement of teaching, learning and performance through the application of learning theory and technology.
MAIT program focuses on 	Designing instruction from the perspective of the learner rather than from the perspective of the content (the traditional education and training approach). (Morrison, Ross, & Kemp, 2003)
MAIT Program serves Educators, administrators, and related personnel in K-12 schools and higher education, as well as those involved in instructional design, development, and training in government and in the corporate sector.
MAIT Curriculum 11 courses (33 credits) 6 Core courses including Research and Capstone courses 3 Track courses  For example Integrating Technology in the Classroom Web Design and Development Distance Learning in Education 2 Electives For example Digital Video Production Grant Writing
After the MAIT degree: Supervisory Cert Courses To apply for the supervisory certificate,  Restricted Electives (2 courses) INTC 5160: Instructional Design INTC 5230: Supervising and Coordination Educational 			  Technology INTC 5330: Integrating Technology in the Classroom (more courses available in the MAED program) Required Courses (prerequisite: Master’s Degree) EDUC 6110: Curriculum Development & Evaluation EDUC 6120: Principles of Supervision
What is the Cohort Program? All classes are offered at a school site or via distance education. The same group of students (cohort) proceeds through the program together.  The curriculum is customized to the needs of the cohort group.

Cohort Curriculum The Same as the on-campus Total 11 courses (33 credits) 6 core courses Intro to IT, Visual Communications, Theoretical Foundations, Instructional Design, Research, Capstone Three track courses selected by the cohort group Two elective courses selected by the cohort group Possible to provide a new elective course
Class Time Adjusted to teachers’ schedules (district academic calendar) rather than following Stockton schedule Right after the end of the school day 4:00 pm (or 3:30, 4:30) to 7:30 pm (or 7:00, 8:00) Once a week, 11 weeks Three courses during a school year
Duration Three courses per year Fall, Early Spring and Late Spring  Three and half years Two courses per year Fall and Spring Five and half years
Instructors for Cohort Program Core courses: MAIT faculty members Track & Electives: MAIT faculty or highly qualified adjuncts, including MAIT alumni MAIT alumni from the site MAIT background Familiar with the needs of the site Familiar with software/hardware available          at the site
To start a cohort, we need: Demand District-based cohort group Consortium Facilities School computer labs or technology center Centrally located within the district Stockton Offering Special Discount See the brochure  From 20 students: 20% tuition discount
For a new MAIT Cohort If you agree, MAIT will offer EDUC 6110: Curriculum Development & Evaluation as an elective course, so that, after receiving a MAIT degree, you need to take only one more course to complete required Supervisory Certificate courses.
Application Process You can start as a non-matriculated student Up to 6 credits Why do I need to be matriculated? Non-matriculated student fee each term ($50) Cannot apply for financial aids Cannot apply for Graduate Assistantship Do not receive student ID
Application process (cont’d) Check the Stockton Graduate Program web site. www. stockton. edu,  go to Academics/ Graduate Programs Download forms Fill out the application form and essay Three letters of recommendation All transcripts GRE or MAT (Miller Analogies Test) Stockton or Rowan has a computer-based testing center  Make an appointment (Stockton: 609-652-4650)

  • 3. MAIT Program deals with The improvement of teaching, learning and performance through the application of learning theory and technology.
  • 4. MAIT program focuses on Designing instruction from the perspective of the learner rather than from the perspective of the content (the traditional education and training approach). (Morrison, Ross, & Kemp, 2003)
  • 5. MAIT Program serves Educators, administrators, and related personnel in K-12 schools and higher education, as well as those involved in instructional design, development, and training in government and in the corporate sector.
  • 6. MAIT Curriculum 11 courses (33 credits) 6 Core courses including Research and Capstone courses 3 Track courses For example Integrating Technology in the Classroom Web Design and Development Distance Learning in Education 2 Electives For example Digital Video Production Grant Writing
  • 7. After the MAIT degree: Supervisory Cert Courses To apply for the supervisory certificate, Restricted Electives (2 courses) INTC 5160: Instructional Design INTC 5230: Supervising and Coordination Educational Technology INTC 5330: Integrating Technology in the Classroom (more courses available in the MAED program) Required Courses (prerequisite: Master’s Degree) EDUC 6110: Curriculum Development & Evaluation EDUC 6120: Principles of Supervision
  • 8. What is the Cohort Program? All classes are offered at a school site or via distance education. The same group of students (cohort) proceeds through the program together. The curriculum is customized to the needs of the cohort group.
  • 9. Cohort Curriculum The Same as the on-campus Total 11 courses (33 credits) 6 core courses Intro to IT, Visual Communications, Theoretical Foundations, Instructional Design, Research, Capstone Three track courses selected by the cohort group Two elective courses selected by the cohort group Possible to provide a new elective course
  • 11. Class Time Adjusted to teachers’ schedules (district academic calendar) rather than following Stockton schedule Right after the end of the school day 4:00 pm (or 3:30, 4:30) to 7:30 pm (or 7:00, 8:00) Once a week, 11 weeks Three courses during a school year
  • 12. Duration Three courses per year Fall, Early Spring and Late Spring Three and half years Two courses per year Fall and Spring Five and half years
  • 13. Instructors for Cohort Program Core courses: MAIT faculty members Track & Electives: MAIT faculty or highly qualified adjuncts, including MAIT alumni MAIT alumni from the site MAIT background Familiar with the needs of the site Familiar with software/hardware available at the site
  • 14. To start a cohort, we need: Demand District-based cohort group Consortium Facilities School computer labs or technology center Centrally located within the district Stockton Offering Special Discount See the brochure From 20 students: 20% tuition discount
  • 15. For a new MAIT Cohort If you agree, MAIT will offer EDUC 6110: Curriculum Development & Evaluation as an elective course, so that, after receiving a MAIT degree, you need to take only one more course to complete required Supervisory Certificate courses.
  • 16. Application Process You can start as a non-matriculated student Up to 6 credits Why do I need to be matriculated? Non-matriculated student fee each term ($50) Cannot apply for financial aids Cannot apply for Graduate Assistantship Do not receive student ID
