4. HIVES
Urticaria is the other name for
the hives.
Hives is an outbreak of wheals

5. TYPES OF HIVES
Acute urticaria- hives lasting less than 6 weeks, mostly caused by certain foods,
medications, or infections.
Chronic urticaria and angioedema- hives lasting more than 6 weeks, hard to
diagnose the cause, can affect other body organs such as lungs, muscles, and
gastrointestinal tract.
Physical urticaria- hives caused by physical stimulation of the skin such as
exposure to sun, cold, heat, pressure, sweating etc., usually disappears within an
hour after exposure.
Dermatographism- hives formed from firm stroke or scratch of skin, usually
reduces within 15-30 minutes.
