Technology Integration Unit Launch Page<br /> <br />,[object Object], <br />Essential Question:How do you identify and post valid and appropriate websites for Modern World History?Scaffolding Questions: How do you know if someone is telling you the truth?How do you know if s person knows what they are talking about?How do you determine if a website is valid?How do you determine if a website is “good”? What’s your criteria? Approximate Length of Unit (days, weeks)This project will be ongoing throughout the year Unit Summary and Sequence of Events, Timelines – give details:Summary:  Students will learn how to differentiate between websites that are appropriate for academic research and those that are appropriate for other types of activities. Students will work in pairs to help each other negotiate the web to find valid material for various Modern World History units.Day 1: Introduce project through a series of questions starting with some of the scaffolding questions. Try to get students to utilize skills they already have to figure out what websites are good for research. Give examples of websites and as a class, determine criteria for valid and appropriate websites. Day 2-4: Create warm-up activity with various websites and have students write down what they think the websites would be appropriate for.Day 5:  Hand out project guidelines for how to determine if websites are valid, break students up by units,  2 students will present 2 valid websites on their assigned unit and outline the important information or usage of the website. Students will be assigned at least 2 units by the end of the class. Presentations will be scheduled throughout the year.Software and Hardware needed: Computers, infocus machine <br /> <br />Accommodations for Differentiated InstructionLearning Challenged Student:Students will be paired according to ability. Extra help and individual attention will be given to those students who are struggling. I will ask for volunteers for the first units so that the assignment can be modeled first. Gifted Student:Students can present extra sites or create “fun” category in delicious for extra creditELD Student:Students will be partnered with students with academic English proficiency. Sites can also be  converted to other languages<br /> <br /> <br />,[object Object], <br />REFERENCES – List websites, books, magazines, and other resources used to collect content information for this unit    <br />
