• Acording to dictionary.com it is the concept that
an ever-expanding consumption of goods is
advantageous to the economy.
• The term started being used around 1940-1945.
• Even though it is kind of new people buying more
than they need has happened since the first
civilizations.

• The firs example that I found is how they make
the lower castes hate the country but love country
sports so they will consume transport and the
apparatuses needed to do the sports.

• The net example I found is the games kids use to
play. They said that games that don´t increase
consumption are not approved. They need to
requiere a lot of apparatus to be approved.

• The third example I found was in a Elementary
Class Consciousness where the kids are
conditioned to buy new stuff instead of trying to
fix the old stuff. “Ending is better than mending”.

6. Conclusion
• The consumerism in Brave New World happens
because of the conditioning people to want new
things and to consume. I think in a way we are also
kind of brainwashed to wast new things that we
don´t really need. For example as soon as the new
Iphone is available everyone trows away the old
one to get the new one, even if they do not need it.
• I think that the world that Aldous Huxley wrote
about is not so different fro our world.
