Content explosion is driving changes in where and how
people print
•    HP predicts that by 2013, 26 billion incremental pages will
     be printed from mobile devices and 85 percent of smart
     phone users will want to print
•    The print industry is evolving from analog to digital: from
     static information/word processing to live information from
     the Internet

But we‟re not heading for a paperless society


•   Printing facilitates communication, creativity and
    understanding
•   Print helps drive on-line sales
•   Reading on paper is 10% - 30% faster than reading online
•   People reading on-screen “bounce and flicker” between items

•   IPG is a pioneer in providing sustainable solutions
    for the end-of-life phase of printing products


•   HP Planet Partners program simplifies recycling
    • 100 million pounds of recycled plastic were
      reused in printing products between 2007 and
      2011
    • 389 million Original HP LaserJet and inkjet
      cartridges were returned via the HP Planet
      Partners program since 1991


•   HP also recycles plastic in the production of select
    printers

 Take-Back & Recycling Leadership
 •   At least 50% of HP-branded paper will be FSC® certified and/or have more than 30% post-
     consumer content by the end of 2015, up from less than 3% in 2008

  • 2. Digital content is exploding Two significant market shifts are having an impact on printing 1. Explosion in digital content 2. Ubiquity of mobile Content explosion is driving changes in where and how people print • HP predicts that by 2013, 26 billion incremental pages will be printed from mobile devices and 85 percent of smart phone users will want to print • The print industry is evolving from analog to digital: from static information/word processing to live information from the Internet

Print is evolving But we‟re not heading for a paperless society • Printing facilitates communication, creativity and understanding • Print helps drive on-line sales • Reading on paper is 10% - 30% faster than reading online • People reading on-screen “bounce and flicker” between items every few minutes, interfering with concentration “People want to feel special. Critical sustainability issues • Negative perceptions of the impact of printing on the environment are increasingly being driven by governments, NGOs and customers • HP has developed a strategic framework to provide sustainable printing products, services and solutions that have major benefits to businesses and consumers, while also reducing their environmental footprint • This requires a sustainability lens to be put on the entire value chain of the printed page
