This document announces a flash fiction writing contest with three age categories and prizes for the top entries. Participants must choose one of several lead-in sentences and write an original short story under 500 words, submitting it by email by October 12th. Entries will be judged on creativity, and plagiarism or inappropriate content will result in disqualification. Cash and book vouchers are offered as prizes.

3. Format of Contest
Write a short story of not more than 500 words
Submit your entry via email to

Include your name, NRIC number, age and
mobile number in your submission
Closing Date: 12 October 2012!

1st Prize: iPad 2
2nd Prize: $300 worth of book vouchers
3rd Prize: $200 worth of book vouchers
5 budding writing stars: Each will receive
$100 worth of book vouchers

7. Rules & Regulations
All entries must be original works, in English.
Plagiarism, which includes the use of third-party
poetry, song lyrics, characters or another person’s
ideas, without written permission or proper
acknowledgment will result in disqualification.
Excessive violence, sex or religious extremism,
determined by the judges, will result in
disqualification.
Participants are limited to one submission each.
