What’s the Problem?
34 million adults in America would have trouble
reading this statement.
Sadly, this statistic is not improving much with the next generation. In fact,
one in three young adults will not graduate from high school this year, and
those that do graduate are not necessarily equipped with the reading and
writing skills that they need to achieve success in a career or higher
education. Low literacy rates produce a feeling of detachment from one's
community. Crime, unemployment, poverty, and other serious social
problems result.
The good news is, we can change these statistics!
The Kid Scoop News publication was founded on the belief that supplying
students with a fun and engaging learning resource at a young age
ultimately produces literate, socially responsible citizens who are active in
their communities. Our programs use kid-friendly materials to encourage
student writing, initiate greater civic participation, and promote awareness of
local, national, and international news.
What’s the solution?
Our Mission
For Children:
To celebrate and encourage reading and learning for elementary students in order to
build a solid academic foundation for our children, our future leaders and workforce.
For Communities:
To educate young people about the issues that confront their communities, and thus
inspire greater civic awareness, engagement, and citizenship.
What’s the Solution?
Be a Community Partner and participate in the Kid Scoop News publication for
local students, teachers and parents.
Reach children, educators and parents
by participating in…
Burke County’s Fun Family Newspaper.

What do Students say about
Kid Scoop News?
Comments from students:
Hello, my name is Ashley
Your newspaper is awesome!!!!! I LOVE it as much as
softball, and I love
softball a lot. I like to read too. Maybe sometime you could
come to my school. Well that's all I have to say....
so, good-bye .
Hello, my name is Kaylee
I love getting Kid Scoop News from school. I will read them
right after school the day I get them.
What do Sponsors say about
Kid Scoop News…
“I am very pleased with my Kid Scoop
News marketing program. It’s one of the
most effective ways to reach the students
and parents for our business”.
Steve Snyder,
Owner of Foothills Gymnastics, Hickory.
As a children’s librarian, I meet parents
who share that they love the Kid Scoop
News, too. Many have asked me about my
programs based on the ads I have placed
With library activities, it is good to have
parental backing and I know many
parents will see what’s going on in the
Kid Scoop News publication.
Melissa Hager,
Children’s Librarian, Alexander County
“WOODWORD”
the mascot
Why do we need
Kid Scoop News in our
communities?
Children are reading less in
today's world…
• Cartoons available 24-7
• Video games (portable & home)
• Non-educational computer time
As our society continues to
develop new technology for
entertainment, reading of tangible
print material will continue to
decline, thus continuing to impact
the literacy level of our students.
We invite you to partner with the
nation’s largest and most effective
educational publication for
children and families.
Reach students and the young family demographic with your
literacy and marketing message.
Thank you for your
consideration.
