In my opinion, the combination of my main product and ancillary texts is
extremely effective as the colour theme is consistent and they are
obviously all linked to one another and all follow conventions of real
media products.
Brand identity is one of the most vital features of my products and I
have made sure my products are memorable and recognisable to
customers. I have aimed to create a constant, uniform style for my
brand which impresses my target audience.
One of the most recognisable aspects of my brand is my record label
logo; I have made sure the logo is on the poster, CD disk, spine and back
of the digipak. I have also made sure that every time my character’s
name appears on my product it is in the same font so it is then familiar
and easily recognisable to my audience. I think have created a good
brand identity across my music video, digipak and poster.
In my music video my actress is wearing a plain black leotard
and then in my ancillary tasks she is wearing a black and
white leotard. Additionally, some of the backgrounds in my
video are pink and so is her sash, therefore I chose the main
colour in my ancillary texts to be pink also. By using the
same colours and similar costumes in my ancillary texts, the
audience will immediately associate the digipak and poster
with the music video. In the music video her hair and makeup
is very bold and dramatic and this same use of styling is
apparent in the images used for the ancillary texts.
The colour theme in my ancillary texts is very feminine
and girly, I have done this so it attracts my target
audience which is teenage girls and it also links to the
theme of my video. I feel as if my products house style
is perfect for my target audience as the colour pink is
usually associated with teenage girls. House style is
important as a uniform style on all products means
that they are instantly recognisable, subsequently
people viewing them can tell what they are for and
where they are from. This is why all of my products
have continuity as it makes my products look more
professional because they keep the same style and
format throughout.
A theme that is constant throughout all of my products is
girlishness and beauty. My music video is a message to young girls
to tell them that everyone is beautiful as it is known that many
teenage girls in this day and age are insecure and feel the need to
change their bodies and wear lots of makeup. The video shows
the struggles that my actress goes through to feel good enough for
her beauty pageant but in the end she is happy with herself and
she wins the pageant. In the music video, this theme is expressed
through my character’s emotions, make up, facial expressions,
body language and props.
In regards to promoting the song/album, I
believe that the products I have created do
this very well, individually and collectively. If
my video was really good and thought out it
can attract more views, resulting in more
people listening and purchasing the song.
Because of this, I created my music video to
the best of my ability and made it captivating
and emotional in order to capture my
audience’s attention. My music video is
interesting and passionate which therefore
holds the interest of my audience and
promotes the song.
My digipak front cover is simple and
appealing; because of this I think that
it promotes itself well. The album title
and artist name are big and clear so it
is easy for the audience to recognise
and read. Additionally, the pink
colours will attract young girls as it
informs them instantly that the songs
on the album are feminine. In the
image, my actress is looking directly
into the camera which makes the
viewer feel as if they are connecting
with her on a personal level. The
images of my actress will attract
teenage girls as she is beautiful and
sexy, therefore they will look as her
like as idol. The bold fonts and colours
suggest that the album is fun and girly
which also indicates that the genre of
the music is pop.
The left inside of my digipak is a close up
image of my actress with an moving quote.
This will attract my audience as they will see
my actress as role model and will look to her
for inspiration. The back cover has the same
colour scheme as the front and includes the
logo, legal information the barcode and the
track list. It also includes a image of the artist
looking happy, this creates a content, cheerful
atmosphere.
Moreover, I think the poster is
successful as it looks professional and
eye-catching. The colour theme is the
same as the digipak and the images are
similar so there is a clear link between
the two. The large image of the artist
entices the audience and makes them
want to find out more about her. In
this image my artist looks like a
powerful, beautiful young woman and
this will attract the young girls as they
will want to be like her. The poster
includes social media logos, informing
the audience that they can follow the
artists on there if they wish. This then
makes the audience feel more
connected to her and makes them
want to find out more about her
personality.
I believe my products will sell extremely well
to the audience as the teenage girls will look
at her as a role model and the feminine colour
theme, makeup, costume and fonts indicates
that the songs on the album are specifically
aimed at girls.
