1. GENDER
• The Qur'an says in verse 13 of chapter 49 in
the Qu'ran: "O mankind! We have created you
from a male and a female, and made you into
nations and tribes, that you may know one
another. Verily, the most honourable of you
with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa.
Verily, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Aware."

2. Gender roles in prayer and worship
• On Fridays many Muslims pray in
congregation, and men, women, and children
are segregated into separate groups. Every
other day in the home the family prays
together. The man will lead the prayers, as he
is considered the head of the household. His
wife and children will stand behind him as
they pray.

3. Gender roles within marriage
• A man asked the Prophet: 'Whom should I
honor most?' The Prophet replied: 'Your
mother'. 'And who comes next?' asked the
man. The Prophet replied: 'Your mother'. 'And
who comes next?' asked the man. The
Prophet replied: 'Your mother!'. 'And who
comes next?' asked the man. The Prophet
replied: 'Your father'"

4. Women in Islam
• The Quran states both that men and women
are equal,[3][4][5] but also, as in 4:34, that "Men
are the protectors and maintainers of
women, because Allah has made one of them
to excel the other, and because they spend
from their means.

5. Education of Women
• "How splendid were the
women of the ansar; shame
did not prevent them from
becoming learned in the faith."

6. Female employment
• Women are allowed to work in Islam, subject
to certain conditions, such as if a woman is in
financial need and her employment does not
cause her to neglect her important role as a
mother and wife.[45][46] It has been claimed
that it is the responsibility of the Muslim
community to organize work for women.
