4. Riding Activities

5. During daily riding lessons, riders progress their skills on our wonderful school horses. Skill progression is individually determined based on developmental appropriateness and previous riding experience.

6. Counselors and volunteers assist in lessons to help ensure safety at all times.

8. Riding with buddies is so much fun! 

9. Horsemanship Skills

10. Because there is more to horses than riding, we spend a lot of time practicing and progressing our horsemanship skills.

11. Again, horsemanship skills are taught in accordance with developmental appropriateness and previous experience. All campers practice the very important task of grooming their horses.

13. Unmounted Activities

14. When campers are not riding, they are learning about horses, horse care, and different horse activities. These areas are called unmounted activities.

15. Horse baths are a lot of fun on a warm, summer day!

16. As Three Gaits develops a therapeutic driving program, campers are able to watch the progress of our driving pony, Nora.

17. Campers help with daily chores. This includes feeding horses hay, grain, and supplements.

18. Don’t worry… there’s no homework! But, we do spend time learning about horses. Activities teach campers about horse breeds, colors, markings, and riding disciplines (sports).

19. Sounds like fun? Well… it is!
