It is clear from the literature that knowledge can be thought of in many ways, and
indeed there are a number of different types of knowledge discussed (Teece 1998).
From a knowledge Management perspective, it is useful to be able to identify and
categorise types of knowledge as it may help to indicate which of the categories are
more amenable to management than others (Ponelis and Fairer-Wessels 1998). Nonaka
(1991-98) discusses two very different types of knowledge, explicit and tacit. He describes
explicit knowledge as being ‘formal and systematic’. Nonaka and Takeuchi (1995) add
that explicit knowledge can be articulated in formal language including grammatical
statements, mathematical expressions, specifications, manuals, and so forth. Explicit
knowledge is articulated knowledge, knowledge which has been formalised by way of
speech, text and visual graphics for example (Doyle and du Toit 1998). Thus explicit
knowledge can be easily communicated and shared, in product specifications or a
scientific formula or a computer program (Nonaka 1991).

From a knowledge Management perspective, it is useful to be able to identify and categorise types of knowledge as it may help to indicate which of the categories are more amenable to management than others (Ponelis and Fairer-Wessels 1998). Nonaka (1991-98) discusses two very different types of knowledge, explicit and tacit. He describes explicit knowledge as being ‘formal and systematic’. Nonaka and Takeuchi (1995) add that explicit knowledge can be articulated in formal language including grammatical statements, mathematical expressions, specifications, manuals, and so forth. Explicit knowledge is articulated knowledge, knowledge which has been formalised by way of speech, text and visual graphics for example (Doyle and du Toit 1998). Thus explicit knowledge can be easily communicated and shared, in product specifications or a scientific formula or a computer program (Nonaka 1991). ©ÂÜŽÏ âæçãˆØ âð Øã SÂC ãñ ç·¤ ™ææÙ ·ð¤ ª¤ÂÚ ·¤§ü ÌÚè·¤æð´ âð çß¿æÚ ç·¤Øæ Áæ â·¤Ìæ ãñ, ÌÍæ ™ææÙ ·ð¤ çßçßÏ Âý·¤æÚæð´ ·¤è ¿¿æü ãæðÌè Úãè ãñ (Åèâ 1998)Ð ™ææÙ ÂýÕ´ÏÙ ·ð¤ ÂçÚÂýðÿØ ×ð´ ™ææÙ ·ð¤ Âý·¤æÚæð´ ·¤è Âã¿æÙ ·¤ÚÙæ ÌÍæ ©‹ãð´ ·¤æðçÅÕh ·¤ÚÙæ ©ÂØæð»è ãæð»æ, çÁââð Øã ÂÌæ Ü» â·ð¤ ç·¤ §Ù×ð´ âð ·¤æñÙ âè çßçÏØæ¡ ÂýÕ´ÏÙ ·ð¤ ÿæð˜æ ×ð´ ¥çÏ·¤ âã-»×ÙèØ ãñ´ (Âæ´çÜâ ÌÍæ Èð¤ÚÚ-ßðâðËâ, 1998)Ð ÙæðÙ·¤æ (1991-98) Ùð ™ææÙ ·ð¤ Îæð ¥çÌ- çßçÖóæ Âý·¤æÚæð´ ·¤è ¿¿æü ·¤è ãñ Ñ Ò°€âçŒÜçâÅÓ ÌÍæ ÒÅñ çâÅÓÐ Ò°€âçŒÜçâÅÓ ™ææÙ ·ð¤ ÕæÚð ×ð´ ©‹ãæð´Ùð ·¤ãæ ãñ ç·¤ Øã Ò¥æñ¿æçÚ·¤ ÌÍæ âéâÕhÓ ãæðÌæ ãñÐ ÙæðÙ·¤æ ÌÍæ ŷꤿè (1995) Ùð §â×ð´ ¥ÂÙæ ×Ì ÁæðǸÌð ãé° ·¤ãæ ãñ ç·¤ °€âçŒÜçâÅ ™ææÙ ·¤æð ¥æñ¿æçÚ·¤ Öæáæ ×ð´ â´»´éçÈ¤Ì ç·¤Øæ Áæ â·¤Ìæ ãñ, Áñâð ÃØç€Ì·¤Ú‡æ â´Õ´Ïè ·¤ÍÙæð´, »ç‡æÌèØ ¥çÖÃØç€ÌØæð, çßçÙÎðàææð, ×ñÙ¥Ü, ¥æçÎ ×ðÐ Ò°€âçŒÜçâÅÓ ™ææÙ °·¤ ⴻȤÙàæèÜ ™ææÙ ãñ ©ÎæãÚ‡æSßM¤Â, ´ ü ´ é ´ ´é ßæ·÷¤, ÂæÆ÷Ø ÌÍæ ÎëàØ ¥ÙéÚð¹æð´ ·ð¤ â´»´éȤ٠mæÚæ »çÆÌ ™ææÙ (ÇæðØÜ ÌÍæ Çé Å÷ßæØÅ 1998)Ð §â Âý·¤æÚ °€âçŒÜçâÅ ™ææÙ mæÚæ ©ˆÂæÎ-çßçÙÎðüàææð´, ßñ™ææçÙ·¤ ÂçÚâê˜ææð´ ¥Íßæ ·´¤ŒØêÅÚ Âýæð»ýæ× â´Âýðá‡æèØÌæ °ß´ âæÛæðÎæÚè ÜæÙæ ¥æâæÙ ãæð»æÐ D—5905 3 P.T.O.
