3. What is a community?
A group of people who recognize their shared interests, goals, values or spaces.

4. What is Art in the Community?
A project to develop a public space and empower the
community. Led by a community artist with the
participation of local residents and the support of
municipal and government institutions.
Everyone is invited to take part:
• Communal groups: Classes, schools, nursing
homes, youth organizations.
• Residents of a neighborhood, quarter or the city as
a whole.
• Social organizations for women, children, people
with special needs etc.

5. Discover the other
Strengthen community ties and mutual care, nurturing empathy, generosity and trust.

6. Cooperation based on human variety, allowing everyone in the community to express
their own skills and unique qualities towards a common goal.

7. Empowerment and expression

8. Creative communication – "Talking Kites”(2006)
Thanks to the unique qualities
of artistic expression, projects
enable innovative
communication between
conflicted and estranged
communities.
Talking Kites - In the spring of
2006, 45,000 people in more than
200 locations in Israel and Palestine
flew kites simultaneously. The kites
were adorned with messages to
people on the other side.

9. Tolerance and understanding – "Talking Kites Around The World”(2007 - present)
Talking Kites was adopted by iEarn , an international teachers organization, to encourage “co-existence, tolerance,
acceptance of the ‘other’ and peace“. The project takes place around the worlds every year on 21st March.

10. Campaigning for social causes – “Dresses for Equality”(2007)
Dresses for Equality - During 2007, 22
women organizations and thousands of women
collaborated in a coalition to manifest their
rights by creating the world’s largest dress.

12. Weaving a communal celebration – “The Flower Carpet”(2009)
The flower carpet:
In the spring of
2009, 2,000 citizens,
including
municipality
employees, placed
half a million flowers
in the city square to
celebrate the
Centennial year of
Tel Aviv. The
resulting exhibition
attracted more than
50,000 visitors from
all over the country.

13. A gesture by the citizens for the citizens – “Sea & Wind”(2011)
Local institutions, businesses,
citizens, artists and the municipality
cooperated to create a remarkable
public gathering.
Sea & Wind - During summer 2011 an
artist residency and an open gallery were
established on the beach of Bat-Yam.>>

14. Exhibiting the community– “Sea & Wind”(2011)
Sea & Wind - Community Artist Residency - 100 artists and 3,000 citizens
presented seven group exhibitions, visited by more than 40,000 visitors.

15. Amplifying hidden voices – “Regenerations”(2014)
Regenerations - In 2014 ACCCD initiated 5 different projects in 5 nursing
homes. 500 seniors participated - more than 50% of residents.
Participants find inspiring ways to share their individual messages
with each other and with family, friends and neighbors.

16. ACCCD - Adi Yekutieli - Founder and CEO
An Artist, Curator, Educator and Social Entrepreneur.
Adi was born in Israel, 1958 and grew up in Jerusalem. Has a masters of Fine
Arts from Claremont University in Southern California and an undergraduate
certificate from the Fireworks Center for Textile Arts in Berkeley.
As an active artist, Adi has exhibited his work in dozens of solo and group
exhibitions in Israel and abroad.
He has received many scholarships, stipends and awards:
• Calcalist - Entrepreneurship in Education award
• Ministry of Education: Award for the Tira Art Workshop (1999), Artist-
Teacher three-year scholarship (1997)
• Art for People for Art and Industry projects: Wondering Cylinder Award (1996)
• California: Outstanding Young Man of America Award(1984), Scholarship to
develop an art rehabilitation program in California prisons (1985).
During his 25 years of work, Adi has developed a unique collaborative and social
approach - the driving force behind Art In the Community.

17. ACCCD - Team
The association involves community artists, therapists, instructors, social workers,
business partners, production crews, content managers and manages an array of
volunteers.
The greenhouse for creative entrepreneurship - The association has been
leading an Art in the Community training program since 2012. Graduates from
the program are already leading projects in a variety of communities.
