1. Integrating ICT into Grosvenor Grammar School’s Spanish Department This session will show how ICT has been integrated into the Spanish department of a school in Belfast, through the use of new technologies and hardware, and the positive impact it has had on uptake, especially at GCSE

Staff training – dept has led whole school training in IWB and Quizdom as well as at Knockbreda HS and OLSP Queens PGCE, Fun and Games in MFL in October, An A-Z of ICT in February RTU Summer School and SS conference An “ICT in Modern Languages Day” was hosted in Grosvenor in June. 19 teachers from 9 post-primary schools attended. Every teacher left with resources from each of the four workshops and there was an opportunity for sharing best practice. The day was then replicated on a larger scale last June. Joe Dale was the keynote speaker and other language teachers from around NI also delivered talks and workshops. Excellent opportunity to share best practice re ICT and ML
Increased ICT access with computer room, plus laptop room with 3 mobile trolleys Microphones & headsets with mics to enable listening and speaking activities, on an individual and group basis The school purchased 4 video conferencing units, retaining one in Grosvenor and placing the others in 3 of our partner schools. Liaison with partner schools TEFL course with OLSP Used VC to share best practice with Knockbreda High School Technology Dept using micro teaching unit to record GCSE revision classes

Educational, pupils love the ease of use, set for HW generally
Excellent for accuracy (text to speech) and Audacity/DVRs
Educational accounts, a little trickier to set up but so worth it
Both for staff as a teaching resource (Languages in the Real World, immigration, pastimes, etc) and for pupils to create
Ability to inspire pupils, particularly boys – handed in early
Pupils see Tweets as ‘real’ Spanish that they can understand, makes it come alive for them
