Find an attendee that you don’t know, who has the
same fruit or vegetable as you on their nametag.
• Do you remember the first time you tried the
mystery vegetable? How was it prepared? What
did you think?
• What is your favorite way to prepare the mystery
vegetable?
• What do you hope to learn today? Write your
partner’s answer on a sticky note and place it on
the appropriate ‘parking lot.’

10. WELCOME
ELEVEN YEARS AGO, Growing Minds began. We started with a garden at Hazelwood Elementary.
We could have stayed in the role as “garden ladies” but we decided we’d figure out what
teachers and Child Nutrition Directors, and farmers, and parents needed and try to provide that.
Like any lifelong learners, we are still learning and we need your help…
Dear Ms. Jackson,
Thank you for lating us plant theeings. An we will be raesponsubl.
