Notes de l'éditeur

1. Introduce yourself : Name Job Title Where you work Etc. Thank the audience for coming – especially since this is the last preso of the day. “Thanks for sticking around”
2. Pause for a few seconds … allowing everyone to read the disclaimer and then move on.
3. At this point, just give a (very) high level description of what you’re going to present today.
4. You’ve already heard quite a bit today about the challenges of today’s datacenters - but why should you care about blade servers vs. rack-mount? Simply put – they are more efficient to run in the data center. Blades are easier to upgrade and expand to meet evolving application workloads. Blades provide architectural flexibility through their modular design. Major components (including networking modules) are externally accessible and are hot-swap capable. Blades and rack-mount servers are similar in that they both possess processor, memory, storage and I/O subsystems. But blades are different in that they leverage the highly efficient power and cooling infrastructure of the chassis within which they reside. If a customer expects to deploy ~4 or more servers then they are better off (from a power and cooling efficiency perspective) to go with blades. *Key Point* When compared to ten similarly configured (1U) rack-mount servers, ten Sun Blade X6270 M2 server modules are up to 28% more power efficient while occupying the same amount of total physical space (10 rack units (10RU)). The modular design also helps to reduce complexity –Blades are Highly integrated, clustered systems. The Sun Blade 6000 Chassis was engineered across server, storage, networking, and Operating Systems – thereby allowing you to merge heterogeneous environments into a common infrastructure that is easier to manage and support. Additionally, you don't have to tradeoff performance and scale for energy and space efficiencies. The rapid growth in blade technology is due in part to the fact that these systems are not only energy efficient but also have very high compute density and are scalable. The growth in total x86 server sales has been given a boost by the surge in blades servers’ growth volume. And as previously mentioned, IT managers have a strong need to make their datacenters more agile and less complex - blade servers are the answer.
5. Our blade servers are standards based and are designed to work seamlessly together within the same “shared infrastructure” chassis. As you’ll see in some of the future slides, when our blade servers, networking and storage offerings come together in the chassis you have a complete IT Infrastructure Solution. In addition to being a highly modularized and integrated solution some of our key differentiators are: Best in Class Reliability Single Management System through full featured Oracle ILOM software and service processors Hot-swappable I/O – enables I/O upgrades with 50% fewer steps than the competition 3:2 network layer reduction (skip this one) 10:1 cable reduction Converging SPARC and x86 technologies in a single blade system chassis No need for additional management layers for blades networking Dedicated (per blade), flexible high bandwidth I/O And ... up to 80% higher I/O bandwidth than the competition (don’t emphasize this either)
6. This is just an “Agenda transition” slide … make a brief comment about the upcoming content and then move on to the next slide. Also talk about how you’ve outlined how Sun Blade systems are unique.
7. *Jump straight into the 3 main points instead* At a fundamental level, the key benefits of the Sun Blade Modular System are: They’re extremely versatile offering a broad range of architectural options They are high performing, extremely dense and have a small environmental footprint And you can achieve a quick Return on Investment when you modernize your infrastructure with Sun Blade systems because of these architectural advantages and some of the broader benefits of the Oracle optimized stack. We’ll spend a little time now going through each of these benefits. Background: Unrivaled Versatility: We have two different I/O module designs. The Sun Blade 6000 chassis supports up to 2 (Chassis wide) Network Express Modules. These modules are used to provide common I/O across all installed blade servers for common protocols such as Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, SAS etc. We also leverage industry standard PCIe ExpressModules. Each individual blade server has access to two ExpressModule slots providing each blade the ability to have its own unique I/O configuration. Our blades are the only blades on the market that allow each individual blade to have its own unique I/O configuration just as if they were rack-mount servers. The X6270 M2 blade supports configurations as small as 1 processor, 1 DIMM with 0 drives all the way up to 2 processors, 18 DIMMs and 4 internal drives. This versatile blade was designed to support a multitude of workloads Competitors have designed “spot solution” blades that impose design compromises in various subsystems making them unacceptable for a broad range of workloads Extreme Efficiency: Our blade products provide better power and cooling efficiencies than competing products I/O Modules are disaggregated from the blade servers and are hot-swappable. This facilitates I/O upgrades with 0 downtime We offer a highly efficient “single system management” solution that allows customers to manage everything (application to disk) as a single system Faster ROI: Combining our versatile and efficient blade, networking, storage, software and single system management solutions together allows customers to realize a faster ROI than competing “dis-jointed” products.
8. What makes Sun Blades such a versatile weapon for your datacenter? (read off this slide mainly) Architectural Advantages Our x86 blades leverage open industry standards across I/O, memory, networking, management & storage subsystems to provide flexibility in the datacenter Our blade servers are designed from the ground up with a “no compromise”, scale up/scale down, power/cooling efficient approach enabling them to be utilized in a multitude of environments to maximize performance while at the same time minimizing environmental impact. Key Technology Innovations: Expandable (in-chassis) storage, high speed “zero management” networking solutions and single system management are just a few of the innovations that when integrated with Oracle software solutions, position our blade solutions as the performance leader in many areas The scalable Oracle Solaris’ ZFS provides an innovative file system that can leveraged for maximum performance The ability to run x86 & SPARC blades concurrent in the same chassis, each with its own I/O configuration provides customers with the most versatile blade server on the market that can address heterogeneous applications and workloads Addressing IT and Business Needs: As previously mentioned, our unique ability to support blade specific I/O configurations allows customers to configure each blade to meet their requirements. Our blade I/O design is the most flexible in the industry and allows our customers to configure their blade I/O as required … they are not forced into specific configurations based on hardened “chassis wide” only I/O designs as witnessed by competitive offerings. Our design allows customers to change I/O configurations on-the-fly to address evolving business needs Oracle VM and Solaris Containers, Solaris LDOMs are industry leading virtualization solutions that are deployed widely in mission critical environments around the world.
9. (Read Notes for this slide) Oracle Sun Blade systems provide a compact form factor with integrated compute, networking, storage, and management facilities. The Sun Blade systems can deliver the elastic processing power needed by the IaaS operations with savings in space, power consumption, and cabling complexity. Sun Blade systems are flexible to accommodate both SPARC and x86 architecture in the same chassis. We support Oracle Solaris on the SPARC blades. Sun x86 Blades support Oracle Linux with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel or Red Hat Kernel, Oracle Solaris, Windows, other Linux flavors, and Windows operating systems. Using the blade form factor, thousands of virtual machines require only a few racks of equipment including blade servers, storage, network infrastructure, and management systems. (1200+ VMs in three racks).
10. (Now that I’ve talked about HW, I want to move into the SW and talk about how these features integrates with the SB systems to add even more value for your business). Read this line -> Oracle Solaris OS is the most popular UNIX OS for volume servers. It delivers a breathtaking set of features designed to dramatically improve reliability, security and scalability for the enterprise. A few highlights are (At this point just read off the features in the slide, don’t read the notes below). Dtrace: — Developers and administrators can quickly zero in on performance issues as well as difficult-to-find and difficult-to-re-create bugs using the powerful new Dynamic Tracing (DTrace) facility to quickly understand system behavior. DTrace can be used on running systems to examine application, library, and kernel activity. Predictive Self-Healing: — This innovative new capability automatically diagnoses, isolates, and recovers from many hardware and application faults. Business-critical applications and essential system services can continue uninterrupted in the event of software failures, major hardware component failures, and even software misconfiguration problems. Oracle Solaris Cryptographic Infrastructure: — A consistent framework for application-level and kernel-level cryptographic operations, the Oracle Solaris Cryptographic Framework can help increase security and performance while giving applications access to the same hardware encryption acceleration devices used by the operating system kernel. • Role Based Access Control — This security feature significantly reduces the possibility of a compromised application doing real damage to a system by providing fine-grained control over the resources and objects that processes can manipulate. Oracle Solaris ZFS File System — Integrated device and volume management with automatic administration features provides a flexible, secure, scalable, high-performance, policy-driven, and fault-resilient file system.
11. Let’s take a moment to define terms: Oracle ENTERPRISE Linux (OEL) is free, open source software, which is fully compatible—both binary and source—with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL); OEL tracks RHEL in lockstep and OEL is fully kABI compliant with RHEL; OEL is the same as RHEL, minus copyrights/trademarks/logos (e.g. penguins instead of hats); Anyone can download OEL for free, no support contract required—unlike RHEL, which requires customers to purchase support; (emphasize this) What is Oracle’s Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Linux? (Read these first two paragraphs, then just mention the highlights and you’re done) On Sept. 19, 2010 , Oracle announced the new Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel, a fast, modern, reliable Linux kernel that is optimized for Oracle software and hardware. Oracle Linux combined with Oracle’s new Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel brings the latest Linux innovations to market delivering extreme performance, advanced scalability and reliability for enterprise applications. Because Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel doesn’t require you to re-install the operating system, existing applications run unchanged. Oracle recommends the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for use with not just Oracle software and hardware, but for all enterprise applications and servers running on Linux. The new kernel is already being used in Exadata Database Machine and Exalogic Elastic Cloud offerings from Oracle, resulting in significant performance gains. What are the key benefits of Oracle’s Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel? Based on the stable 2.6.32 Linux kernel and including optimizations from collaboration between Oracle’s Linux, Database, Middleware, and Hardware engineering teams, the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel offers: • Fast—Delivers more than 75 percent performance gain in OLTP performance tests over a Red Hat 5 Compatible Kernel; 200 percent speedup of Infiniband messaging ; 137 percent faster solid state disk access; • Modern—Optimized for large servers; improved power management and energy efficiency; fine grained CPU and memory resource control; derived from the stable 2.6.32 mainline Linux kernel • Reliable—Supports the Data Integrity Extensions and T10 Protection Information Model, improves application uptime • Optimized for Oracle—Built and tested to run Oracle hardware, databases, and middleware
12. Now that I’ve talked about Oracle Solaris and OEL, let’s talk about some of the virtualization options that we have. Oracle VM offers support for both x86 and SPARC architectures, making it possible to not only deploy in a heterogeneous environment but also have a single management interface across them. (read this word for word). x86 architecture supports Linux, Solaris and Windows guest operating systems. Customers can leverage Oracle VM to consolidate servers, rapidly deploy software, recover quickly from system failure, and match resource capacity to workloads. New: Support for Solaris guests on Oracle VM Server (x86) For SPARC blades, the Oracle VM Server for SPARC (formally Logical Domains) offers a high performance hypervisor implementation for Solaris environments. Each Solaris OS running as separate OS image. Solaris Containers are a no-cost virtualization option integrated into the Oracle Solaris OS. It is extremely fast, highly flexible but provides high levels of security and application isolation through the enterprise class Solaris UNIX operating system.
13. Now I want to go into details as to how SB systems maximize Datacenter efficiencies. Read off slide and move on. As mentioned already, Sun blades also provide great opportunities to make your datacenter more efficient. Architectural Advantage: The highly reliable, modular and scalable design of the Sun Blade 6000 Modular System enables customers to consolidate disparate systems into a compact space, power & cooling efficient form factor Consolidation reduces the number of components which thereby reduces the number of single points of failure. This leads to improved uptime percentages and satisfied SLAs Oracle blade solutions are Engineered, integrated and optimized from “design to delivery” for optimal performance Key Technology Innovations: Single System Management encompassing the whole stack from application to disk 10:1 Cable reduction with innovative Networking modules that also provide a simple “zero management” solution to greatly reduce complexity Simplified upgrades – leveraging our blade unique I/O module design provides customers with a very simple I/O upgrade path and with hot-swap support enables less technical personnel to perform I/O upgrades Addressing IT and Business Needs: Our modular system design allows customers to “stretch their budgets” by consolidating legacy disparate systems onto a highly modularized, integrated and performance optimized IT Infrastructure System that helps reduce floor space consumption and power/cooling requirements. The Hardware, Software, Complete designed systems are easier to manage and deploy which allows IT to then focus on delivering the solutions required by the business
14. Don’t mention competitors by name, but just mention the word “competition”. The numbers shown here are based on actual calculations from each vendor’s power calculators for fully populated chassis with matching blade configurations. The savings are real dollars. The numbers shown are on a “per blade” basis … multiply these numbers by a few hundred blades (or more) and then you begin to see why our blade solutions are a huge step towards realizing true Datacenter Efficiency. SUBSTANTIATIONS: Power Calculator versions used (06/15/10): Sun: Internal measurements HP Bladesystem Power Sizing Tool v3.19.0 IBM BladeCenter and System X Power Configurator v 4.5.1.33 (4/28/10) Power Calculations (chassis configured with max # of blades): Blade Configuration specifics: 2x X5670 Westmere-EP (2.93GHz, 95W) processors 2x 500GB SATA HDDs 12x 4GB DIMMs 2x (embedded) GbE Links (1 to each respective GbE passthru module) Blade Chassis configurations: Sun Blade 6000 Chassis with: 2x 5600w Power Supply Modules (N+N Redundancy) 6x Cooling Fans 2x GbE Pass-thru NEMs 1x Chassis Monitoring Module 10x Sun Blade X6270 M2 server module HP c7000 Chassis with: 4x 2250w Power Supplies (N+N Redundancy) 8x Cooling Fans 2x Ethernet Pass-thru Modules 1x Onboard Administrator 16x HP BL460c G6 (1/2 high) blades IBM BladeCenter H Chassis Chassis with: 2x Copper Pass-thru GbE Modules 14x HS22 blades 100% Utilization: Sun config: 312.9 W (per blade) HP config: 345.4 W (per blade) IBM config: 359.7 W (per blade) Power Cost calculations Note: .1032 c/kWh is the commercial cost (avg. for 2008 & 2009) per kWh … found at http://www.eia.doe.gov/fuelelectric.html Sun Config: 312.9w/hr (100% utilization) x 8760 hrs. per year = 2,741 kWh/yr 2,741 kWh/yr x .1032 per kWh = $282.87 annual power cost (per blade) HP Config: 345.4w/hr (100% utilization) x 8760 hrs. per year = 3,026 kWh/yr 3,026 kWh /yr x .1032 per kWh = $312.28 annual power cost (per blade) IBM Config: 359.71w/hr (100% utilization) x 8760 hrs. per year = 3,151 kWh /yr 3,151 kWh /yr x .1032 per kWh = $325.18 annual power cost (per blade) Carbon footprint: http://www.42u.com/efficiency/energy-efficiency-calculator.htm Sun: 2741 kWh/yr / 1658.7 kWh/ton CO2 = 1.65 tons CO2 / yr (per blade) HP: 3026 kWh/yr / 1658.7 kWh/ton CO2 = 1.82 tons CO2 / yr (per blade) IBM: 3151 kWh/yr / 1658.7 kWh/ton CO2 = 1.90 tons CO2 / yr (per blade)
15. “Now here’s another example of reducing DC complexity. On this slide we see how the (recently announced) Sun Network Switch 10GbE 72p greatly reduces datacenter networking complexity and simplifies wiring infrastructure by building a non-blocking fabric with fewer switches…” As we see in the slide, with its industry leading port density a single Sun Network Switch 10GbE 72p can easily displace 3 discrete 24-port or 2-discrete 48-port switches for a space & cable efficient high performance non-blocking solution. With its 8 uplinks the switch can cost effectively join 64 servers to a tier 2 switch thereby eliminating the need for complex tier 1 interconnectivity. Additionally, this top of rack solution represents a single point of management for up to 72 servers thus greatly reducing Operational Costs when compared to meshes of 24-port and 48-port offerings (which can require up to 9 switches to achieve a non-blocking 72 port solution)
16. “Now let’s take a moment to look at how SB systems can maximize compute density. When you take a SB T6340 which is a SPARC blade against the competition, you can increase your relative performance 50% more in the same footprint which will allow you to consolidate” (and move on) Let’s take a moment to drill down on one of the more critical challenges business are facing today (compute density) and how our SPARC blade systems lead the industry in solving these challenges. Take the brand new HP BL860C i2 for example. The BL860c i2 is a 2-socket Itanium blade with SPECint2006rate peak number of 134. This is 16% below the Sun Blade T6340 server blade. Furthermore, Ten Oracle T6340 blades can be installed in a single 10 rack unit (RU) Sun Blade 6000 chassis while only 8 BL860C i2 can be installed into an HP c7000 chassis. The net result is 50% better performance density with the Oracle Sun solution. There are also significant CapEX and OPex cost savings with the Oracle Sun solution: HP charges $1,708 LTU per core for Integrity Virtual Machine LTU. The BL860C i2 also consumes approximately 795 watts (per HP power sizer 3.19.0) which is 42% more than the Oracle T6340. This translates to an annual power savings of 12,352 kWh or $1260 (US Dollars) saving per year (per blade). (based on $0.102 per kWh rate).
17. “Here’s an example of the speed and performance of our SB systems. What you see here is a World Record benchmark for the X6270 M2 for Java-based workloads. But the key point to illustrate here is this is only a record on one single model. We have numerous world records across other blade as well as rackmount models and this shows Oracle’s commitment to speed and performance.” We would be remiss not to also point out that these Sun blade systems provide industry leading performance capabilities as well. When we launched the Sun Blade X6270 M2 server module (blade) back in late June we hit the streets with the industry leading SPECjbb2005 benchmark results. SPECjbb2005 is a benchmark for evaluating the performance of servers running typical Java business applications. This benchmark represents an order processing application for a wholesale supplier. The benchmark is typically used to evaluate performance of hardware and software aspects of Java Virtual Machine servers. As mentioned earlier, the X6270 M2 was designed with versatility as a core requirement. As such it can scale from a single processor, 1 DIMM, 0 HDD system all the way up to a two processor (12 core) system with 18 DIMMs and 4 drives. In addition, the X6270 M2 has an industry leading PCIe infrastructure that can support up to 282Gb/s of I/O throughput for I/O intensive workloads. This highly efficient blade is feature rich and has all of the characteristics required to satisfy a broad range of both Oracle and Non-Oracle workloads.
18. “Here’s an example of ORCL’s management portfolio which is our ILOM which is a full featured mgt tool at no extra cost” And then read off it. Powerful, Full-Featured Toolset; No Additional Charge Our customers can leverage a single tool to handle the entire (application to disk) cluster (stack). This is a tremendous “simplification” benefit and helps our customers to realign their support staff to deliver new applications and solutions for the business instead of wasting time trying to manage their environment with multiple tools. It just isn’t efficient. We provide a unified tool to manage the complete solution holistically Common and consistent interface for all OS platforms Flexible framework for integration with other 3rd party platforms Manage at the service, chassis, or blade level and enable role-based access control Oracle ILOM: Flexible management, monitoring, and configuration and it allows true hands off, lights out, monitoring across blades and rack-mount servers Hardware Management Packs: Provide a choice in hardware monitoring tools Hardware Assistant: Bundles in essential drivers and firmware Bring servers online faster with rapid setup and install Servers can connect to the correct URL and download the latest Firmware & BIOS even before an Operating System is installed, this ensure rapid (and) correct deployment of servers 3rd Party: Integration with existing 3rd party management systems
19. Just read notes. Then at end say “The key takeaway is that ORCL EM allows you to manage everything in your datacenter as a single system.” ORCL EM Ops Center is a powerful tool for efficiently managing your server infrastructure. It helps streamline data center operations with its unified lifecycle management, optimization for Oracle/Sun systems, and easy to learn and use interface. Ops Center helps deploy new services faster with its simplified discovery, automated provisioning, and pre-defined configuration profiles. Ops Center reduces downtime with intelligent patch & configuration management, and real time monitoring across both physical and virtual systems. It also helps customers gain control of server “sprawl” with advanced virtualization management with its scalable & secure architecture.
20. Finally, these performance and cost savings mean that moving to a Sun Blade infrastructure can be done quicky and cost-effectively to achieve a faster payback on your IT investment. Architectural advantage: When customers utilize Oracle’s tried and tested solutions that combine optimized software and hardware components (from application to disk) deployment times are greatly reduced and they are able to achieve a desired ROI faster than when compared to deploying multiple pieces/parts from various vendors. Customers are able to realize better service support when they only have to communicate with a single vendor. Key Technology Innovations & Addressing IT & Business Needs: As mentioned earlier, Sun’s modular systems have been Engineered from the ground up with scalability and flexibility as core requirements. Now that Oracle and Sun have come together the result is complete software, hardware integrated solutions that greatly reduce datacenter complexity and deliver a fast ROI to the customer.
21. In our labs we performed a hardware upgrade comparison between the Sun Blade 6000 Chassis and the HP c7000 Chassis. The comparison consisted of a blade server I/O upgrade from 4Gb Fibre Channel to 8Gb Fibre Channel. Our results indicate that the HP upgrade required 13 steps and took 6 minutes and 30 seconds. With its hot-swappable ExpressModules the Sun blade upgrade required only 6 steps and took only 30 seconds. More important is the fact that the Sun upgrade required zero downtime. This translates to a greater than 50% reduction in steps (per blade) required to perform an I/O upgrade. The SB6000 continue providing service (at reduced bandwidth/redundancy levels) throughout the upgrade, but the HP system has to be completely shut down for essentially the full process of the upgrade. The numbers shown on the slide represent “per blade” figures … multiply this by a few hundred blades and you begin to see the benefits of the efficient Sun Blade’s I/O modular design. In addition, since the Sun Blade I/O upgrade leverages hot-swappable ExpressModules … less technical staff members (or remote locations) can perform the upgrades … allowing your more technical staff members to focus on delivering solutions to the business.
22. IBM markets their Power 7 systems as being “smarter systems for a smarter planet”. However, the “smarter systems” that should take the “future workload” by storm are not quite that smart when it comes to virtualization and resource utilization. Virtualization Acquisition costs: PowerVM - is free for standard edition but costs $280 per processor if you require Live Partition Mobility. This additional cost can greatly increase CAPex for the datacenter. Virtualization overhead < 10 virtual environments: Oracle T-series processors and Oracle VM for SPARC have the advantage of being designed for thread-level granularity. Unlike the time-slice implementation of IBM PowerVM (with its scheduler at the hypervisor layer), Oracle designs the scheduler at the processor level for lightening fast response. Customers can deploy Oracle virtualization solutions without fear of performance degradation. Installation and Configuration: IBM’s PowerVM implementation service includes initial planning, installation, configuration and project planning from start to end. The process can take weeks for large scale projects. Oracle’s solutions based on Solaris Containers & Oracle VM server for SPARC typically are up and running while the IBM customers are still in their planning stages. The Oracle solution provides a faster (and far simpler) ROI. Reboot virtual environment: Because of the time slice nature of IBM’s PowerVM, their systems take a long time to re-stablish the sequence and the priority of the previous state. Oracle VM for SPARC, on the other hand, has no concern for sequence because its granularity is at the thread level and can reboot within seconds. This greatly reduces server downtime and helps IT to satisfy service level agreements. Built-in VM snapshot and cloning: PowerVM is designed with resource sharing in mind but has no concept of snapshot or cloning, both of which are essential for development and test environments to ensure stability when the solution is eventually moved into a production environment. Physical to Virtual (P2V) tool to run older OS in VM/domain PowerVM mandates that all VMs must be of the same OS level while Solaris Containers are flexible and allow customers to run different revisions of the OS.
23. So we’ve just covered some of the specific benefits and advantages of deploying business services with Sun Blade Systems. We’ll wrap today by sharing with you some examples of how we’ve brought together the blade technologies with the rest of the Oracle technology stack to provide truly optimized solutions for your datacenter needs.
24. The first example here demonstrates the impressive results we’ve achieved by integrating our server products with the Oracle Coherence stack. Coherence is an advanced Oracle solution that allows applications to access data faster by holding them and managing them in memory. As shown in the slide, customers can realize linear performance and scaling with reduced power & cooling costs by integrating the Oracle Coherence Stack with the power & cooling efficient Sun Blade 6000 Modular Systems. As mentioned previously, with our flexible heterogeneous design customers can choose to run the stack on either SPARC or X86 blades. Let take a look at one more integration example.
25. With this next integration example, we again see evidence of the faster deployment capabilities of integrated systems. Integrated and optimized configurations provide customers with ready-to-run solutions not just pieces/parts. Integrated solutions eliminate the risks of incorrect configurations and greatly reduce deployment cycles to ensure your systems are optimized and up within the minimum amount of time. Enhanced performance and rapid deployment enables customer to realize significant cost savings in a short period of time.
26. This next example was just introduced at Oracle Open World in September 2010. Essentially, we will now be offering Oracle VM for x86 as a pre-install option on Sun Blade and X86 rack systems. This will start being available in late October (oct 19) This provides an ideal infrastructure solution for private clouds or any consolidation initiative. When ordered with Blades, the networking and storage can also be integrated at the factory which Dramatically reduces deployment times when setting up new environments. Oracle Linux and Oracle Solaris are available as guest OS environments.
27. The benefits of this integration are really compelling.
28. Here we see just a small sample of efficiency proof points that highlight some of the key attributes of the Sun Blade Modular System and validate the benefits of our flexible, performance optimized, power and cooling efficient blade solutions.
29. Hopefully, I’ve been able to clearly articulate what some of the efficiency and performance optimization business benefits are of having Software, Hardware, Complete … “Engineered, tested and certified solutions” under one roof. In closing, I’d like to read a recent quote from Matt Eastwood – Group Vice President of IDC: “Datacenter managers have always looked for price/performance improvements from their infrastructure investments, which are increasingly being achieved through fully integrated hardware and software,” says Matt Eastwood, group vice president, IDC. “Oracle’s new x86 blade and rack systems provide a complete solution for running Oracle software, delivering an integrated stack designed to reduce Capex and Opex costs in the datacenter.” Once again … thank you for your time today.
