2. My magazine will belong to the sub-genre of
Pop. This is because I am aware and have
knowledge of current Pop music as this is the
type of music that I mostly listen to. I also
know of appropriate models that I can use to
fit this genre.
3. Top of the pops magazine is a monthly
publication
It was originally marketed as the missing link
between Smash Hits and NME, but its format
was gradually changed, with less music
content and a demographic shift to a small
niche audience of young girls, probably
between the ages of 9-12.
It now features chart information, star gossip,
fashion and beauty advice, quizzes, song
lyrics and posters. It is a supplementary
magazine for the TV show Top of the Pops
until the latter was cancelled in 2006.
The magazine was launched in February 1995
and is famous for giving girl group The Spice
Girls their nicknames
The magazine has now become iconic for the
old TV show Top of the Pops so it reaches out
to a wider audience of parents who may feel
nostalgic and want to buy the magazine for
their children.
4. Immediate Media Company Limited is a
combined publishing house containing the
former assets of Origin Publishing, Magicalia and
BBC Magazines.
It publishes over 50 magazine titles and over 30
websites, and it employs 750 staff
Immediate Media Company’s magazine titles
include 23 former BBC Magazines titles published
under long-term licence from BBC Worldwide.
I would probably not choose this publisher for
my company because although they have a good
reputation of success they are mainly associated
with the BBC and my magazine will not be a part
of the BBC.
