2. At the beginning of the trailer you instantly are made aware of what season
the film is due to be released in. This gives real information to the audience
and allows them to know when the film is going to come out in the cinemas.
With the white text on the black background it stands out well, this is to
emphasise on the importance of the audience knowing when the film will be
released for future references. The text also has a shadow effect on it to make
it seem more eerie and links with the horror genre.
3. In this image the audience will see a panning view of the supposedly 'haunted house'. This is
where all of the filming will take place and makes the viewers aware of this. Not straight
away though could they understand that this is the family home just possibly a general
house.
The camera angle throughout this small scene is of a mid shot of the middle of the house
panning along. You can tell from the filming that the camera is handheld which gives more of
a realistic feel for the audience. The lighting of this shot was originally quite bright as i filmed
this in daylight, with the editing that i did i was able to lower the brightness and contrast it to
give that darker look. Having it darker i felt linked more with the horror genre and the fact
that this house is supposedly haunted allows the audience to possibly get a feel of this.
4. In this shot you have the two main characters whom are both of the younger age playing in a back
garden of their home. I would say it is a wide angled shot that ranges between long and mid shots. I
felt that ensuring that the majority of the garden was included in this scene was important for the
audience to pursue the idea that they are a normal family doing what normal children do playing in
their back gardens. The shot is filmed in natural lighting to show that it is a normal day, although i did
darken this slightly like the other shot just to give it that mysterious feel to the audience. Having the
children playing football is stereotypically what young children do, i wanted to have the characters
doing this activity because it shows their vulnerability and innocence towards the audience and that
could all be taken away. Both the characters are still in school uniform which i wanted to do again to
continue to show their innocence of being young children. The body language and facial expressions
of the two characters are very happy and smiley like any other children that would be playing.
5. This is a close up shot of the children playing a bored game. The idea come across that it
was just a normal bored game that they play unaware of what the dangers that come with
these dice and the meaning of the board. With the camera angle only showing the lower
halves of the characters bodies gives that sense of mystery and like its the last time you will
see them unharmed. I decided to make this shot a lot darker to give that intense feel that
something unexpected is going to happen that the audience wont suspect and possibly give
the idea that this isn't just a normal board game. Keeping the children in school uniform
continues with the previous scenes of them playing as they would do normally and still
shows their innocence.
6. In this shot you will being to see the start of the paranormal activity that occurs and is
used on the younger female character. In this image you can see the duvet covers have
been unexpectedly taken away form the girl whilst she is sleeping, not seeing this
character due to the lighting again gives that sense of mystery to who this person
maybe. With the dark lighting and only a small amount shadowing through from the
windows gives that eerie feel to the audience of this activity that is going on and
intrigues them to continue to see what else happens. As the dark lighting is very low
you can't really work out what the young girl is wearing, although the audience will
understand that this will be pyjammas like any other young child would wear. The
camera angle is of a mid shot and you can see the girls face and half of her body and
the bed. This allows the mysterious character to not be seen during this time.
7. In this close up shot you can see that the girl is being pulled by her hair by an unknown hand
coming from the left of the camera. With the girl looking down you can work out that the
activity that is happening is affecting the girl with the body language she is showing. The
lighting again for this shot is very dark because it is meant to be set through the night when
the activity generally happens, having the lighting dark allows the audience to have that
intense feeling of not knowing what is causing all the activity as the character cannot be
seen. You can kind of make out what the young girl is wearing, again it seems to be pale pink
pyjammas which is very stereotypical for a young girl. Not having the character showing
direct address shows that she is loosing her innocence and the personality that normal little
girls have.
