1. How did you attract/address your
audience?
Bradley Homans
2. Front Cover
The cover image that is used attracts the audience from the
start with the colour of it, with it being black and white it
contrasts against the red text that is on the cover and by doing
this it makes it stand out and catches the eye of the audience,
the pose also with him being sitting down it brings artist closer
to the camera and closer to the reader who is viewing the
magazine this draws the reader in.
The colour scheme is also something that I really important in
attracting the audience, I have made it two different shades of
red I did this for two reasons, with the background being dark,
choosing red as a colour to use makes the words stand out
more than if it was a colour such as brown. Also with the target
audience being mainly males I chose dark red as it is a colour
that is associated with males and choosing a colour like this
would draw the target audience more than if it was yellow or
light green.
The Masthead for my magazine is also important I have made
it a lot larger than the rest of the text on the page and also I
have added in ‘char music magazine’ underneath shows the
audience exactly what the magazine is about an it draws the
audience in from the start. I have also made it larger than the
rest of the text so the audience know what the magazine is
about and that it is a music magazine, another way of attracting
them.
The cover line ‘THE CRASH’ also draws the readers in as it
tells them directly what will be in the magazine and ‘exclusive
interview’ also works as a way of tell the audience that this
magazine is the only on that has it, again a way of drawing in
the audience.
3. Contents Page
Like the front cover I have tried to keep the red and black
colour scheme running through to the contents page, this
again works as a way of attracting the audience and the large
red text stands out because of the black background that has
been placed on the back of the contents page. It again
attracts the target audience as keeping this colour scheme
shows that it is still aimed towards the male target audience
as those are two colours that are associated with the male
gender.
I have used the colours of white and yellow as a way of
making text stand out, for example on the ‘subscription
information’ I have used yellow as a way of making it stand
out more than if it was just plain red or black. By doing this it
attracts the audience to this part of the page and invites them
to read this information.
I have tried to add as much latest news on music as I can in
my contents page as that is something that males like to know
is all of the latest news as they can then follow there favourite
artists easier. I have shown this by putting the headings in
block capitals to draw the readers attention to different parts
of the magazine that holds information that they wish to read.
I have added in pictures to the contents page I have done
this because it attracts the audience by showing them what
can be found in the magazine not just with text but with
pictures. By doing this it lets the see directly some of the
pictures/information that can be found on these specific pages
of the magazine giving them an idea of what can be found
there and encouraging them to read through to find more in
the magazine.
4. Double Page Spread
The colour scheme has be carried I have added in a heading to the top of the spread to support the
over from the other two pages and copy in the article, by doing this it shows the audience what it will be
shows the audience a sense on about. I have also made it all in capitals and in a large read font. I
continuity and again making the text have done this as a way of making it stand out and attracting the
audience, it catches their eye straight away and firstly. By using the
stand out.
work ‘exclusive’ it shows the audience that they are getting something
I have placed a large image that different to everyone else and that this is special to them. By doing this

pages, by doing this it works as a
way of drawing in the audience and
attracting them, by making it such a
large image it makes the appreciate
it more spend more time examining it
and its surroundings. With the image
being taken outside it gives the
impression of the artist and what
they are like, by doing this it is able
to relate to the audience. By having
a image like this it shows more to the
audience and supports the article
that has been written about it.
I have also placed a pull quote on
the double page spread, by doing
this it draws in and attracts the
audience and gives them an idea of
what the article will be about before
they even start reading it.
