We’re hoping to have this Limitless Libraries webpage as the home page for the student computers in the library. Kathy has it there at Hillwood and was happy with it as a jumping off point for research. It is changing frequently and feedback is definitely needed to keep the contents current.
This slide is for display to the audience to show them how they will vote on your polls in your presentation. You can remove this slide if you like or if the audience is already comfortable with texting and/or voting with Poll Everywhere.Sample Oral Instructions:Ladies and gentlemen, throughout today’s meeting we’re going to engage in some audience polling to find out what you’re thinking, what you’re up to and what you know. Now I’m going to ask for your opinion. We’re going to use your phones to do some audience voting just like on American Idol.So please take out your cell phones, but remember to leave them on silent. You can participate by sending a text message. This is a just standard rate text message, so it may be free for you, or up to twenty cents on some carriers if you do not have a text messaging plan. The service we are using is serious about privacy. I cannot see your phone numbers, and you’ll never receive follow-up text messages outside this presentation. There’s only one thing worse than email spam – and that’s text message spam because you have to pay to receive it!
Press F5 or enter presentation mode to view the poll
In an emergency during your presentation, if the poll isn't showing, navigate to this link in your web browser:
http://www.polleverywhere.com/multiple_choice_polls/LTE4ODA1NjIyMDUIf you like, you can use this slide as a template for your own voting slides. You might use a slide like this if you feel your audience would benefit from the picture showing a text message on a phone.
To this end, the mayor has given $309, 000 to the $177,000 from last year. This total of $536,000 will help us reach these objectives. The term “good” is objective, of course, but this project definitely hopes to help with the issue of holding onto items, to keep your numbers up. As curriculum changes, it is very tough to keep new areas covered. By working together at this, increases should be possible. As for formats, we’re intending to stay the course with what we started in the pilot school libraries and keep buying in new formats. Audio CDs, DVDs for students, and Playways will all be hitting the shelves in the high schools this Fall. We’re expecting a great reaction from the students.
Educator cards replace personal NPL card. Allows fifty items at a time (including 10 movies). Circulation time is 7 days for movies and 6 weeks for most other item types. Renew once if no holds on the items. Card good for 12 months from date of issue. New cards will be mailed. To activate the card, go to Main Library or one of the Big Five branches: BDX, EP, GH, HRM, MAD (For registration form, be sure and indicate where you want your home pickup location to be…and second choice if choosing school as home pickup location)Librarian card is in addition to personal NPL card (a.k.a. “School Card”). Permits 999 items at a time. 100 holds on NPL material. Circulation is for 6 weeks, no renewals for NPL material. Overdue notices will be sent via email, but no overdue fines are collected. It is the librarian’s responsibility to track all materials borrowed and maintain these files for 3-6 months afterward. Librarian cards expire at the end of the school year and must be re-activated at the beginning of the next school year. NPL accounts will be embedded into all students’ ID barcodes. The MNPS ID number becomes a secondary number in the NPL card database. However, this only happens if they return the permission pages to school.
First box are for the exceptional and wonderfully atypical studentsYes! Route – A new library card number is assigned and linked with student ID numbers, ALL fines are forgiven. These students can still get a library card, if they complete a form to request one. NPL will mail them an actual card to mailing address. If there are students in bad standing, they won’t be able to receive items via delivery, But NPL will send a postcard. No! Route – The nightly download will continue, but NPL account won’t be created until the data comes across showing permission.
Everyone with Limitless Libraries accounts can borrow material to be delivered to the high schools, since all locations will become pickup locations. Demo Courier bag. Uses MNPS Delivery system out of the Main Nashville Public Library.Athena is the system in place for resource sharing between the libraries of the Nashville Area Library Association. Librarian cards can make these loans. No reference materials may be requested and the loan period is 4 weeks. It is suggested that Athena items be restricted to Library Use Only. Now that all students will have a way to authenticate to different database sources, we can possibly begin buying new types of materials, e-books are becoming a force to be reckoned with and group purchases permit great savings.
