2. Why is RPP for Me?
 Registered Project Professional is the standard for
extraordinary project professionals
 Aligned with APM’s application for Chartered Status
 Over 500 RPPs now on the register, some of whom
have progressed via specialist routes such as CPM,
FAPM, IPMA level A/B, corporate variants
 Designation not a qualification, domain independent,
competence and evidence based, gender neutral
 Three key assessment stages, takes at least 3 months

3. Initial Review (IR) Stage
 APM will internally review documentation, so please
refer to the RPP Candidate Guidance
 Project Track Record (PTR) - experience of successfully
managing complex projects during the last 8 years,
managing others when demonstrating competences
 Qualifications, certifications and professional standing
 + CPD log must show at least 35 hours in previous 12
months, reflective statements to show value
 + Two supporting referees who can verify accuracy of
the evidence presented in the portfolio

4. Portfolio Assessment (PA) Stage
 Trained RPP assessor reviews the portfolio, up to 6
weeks including quality assurance processes
 Evidence presented in competence statements should
be linked to the PTR and show candidate’s specific
involvement in demonstrating competences – use the
STAR method?
 Indicators for two mandatory competences (Leadership,
Professionalism & Ethics) and 27 complementary
competences, statement needed for knowledge of
remaining supplementary competences
 Feedback to next stage assessors, or to candidate …

5. Professional Review (PR) Stage
 These happen monthly at various locations (e.g.
Manchester, London, Birmingham, corporate venues)
 Two qualified RPP assessors, up to 1 hour
 Start with “The Talk” (10 minutes) e.g. Five Dimensions
of Professionalism and “Why am I RPP?”
 Then questioning around mandatory and selected other
competences where there are concerns or issues
 Recommendation made to APM, feedback to candidate
takes 2 to 4 weeks, RPP designate can join the Register
of Project Professionals if successful
