6 PROGRAM SCOPE – NUMBER OF SCHOOL CHILDREN The number of school children involved between  2006 – 2009 totalled  2,977,238 (abouthalfthe national total) I-622,068  II-755,663 III-779,658 IV-819,849
PROGRAM SCOPE – NUMBER OF TRAINING COURSES Training courses forschoolcoordinators, (teachers, pedagogues, psychologists, etc.), health promotionspecialists, localgoverment, mass media & experts: 1st Edition – 36 000 participants 2nd Edition – 42 000 participants 3rd Edition – 38 000 participants 			4th Edition – 21 000 participants Total: 137 000 participants 7
ABOUT THE PROGRAM TARGET GROUP The  “KEEP FIT!” program is aimed at pupilsattendingelementary school, (aged 11-12), and junior high school, (aged 13-15),togetherwith their parents.  	The first phase of the program wascompleted over three years, (1st, 2nd and 3rd edition), and thesecondphaseiscurrentlyunderway, (4th, 5th and 6th edition).
TARGET GROUP The 11-15 yearsagegroupswereselectedprimarilybecause; Itiswellrecognisedthatchildrenduringtheirformativeyearsestablishpatterns of lifestylebehaviourthattend to persistintoadulthoodwhenagedaround 11-15 years. Furthermore, physicalactivity/exceriseaftertheseagesbeginsto markedlydecrease. Itisthereforevitalthatcounter-measurescan be takenatthis time.  8.02.1031.01.10 ABOUT THE PROGRAM
