remember when the Jews rebuilt their temple
2000 years ago.
5. Each night of Hanukkah a candle is added to the
menorah until all eight candles are alight on the
last day.
It reminds Jewish people of the miracle of the lamp.....
6. What was the miracle of the lamp?
When the Syrians destroyed the Jewish temple,
2000 years ago in Jerusalem, the Jewish
people were sad.
7. The Jews defeated the Syrians and
rebuilt their temple. They dedicated it
to God.
8. They wanted to light a lamp in the temple
but there was only enough oil to keep it
burning for 1 night.
It kept burning for 8 nights!
What a miracle!
