The Blue Four
Alexej von Jawlensky, Russian
painter, was born in 1864.
Before he found out his true
passion for painting, he was
on his way to becoming a
cadet. His three main themes
were: still lifes, landscapes,
and portraits. Jawlensky died
in 1941.
Wassily Kandinsky was the
main focus around The Blue
Riders. He had strong
influences in the art world.
Kandinsky found himself
very interested in the
Bauhaus and formed The
Blue Four. He died in 1944.

Klee seems to be the favorite
artist for fashion designers.
He is known for his childlike
perspective at times and
spidery hieroglyph-like
symbols style. Along with
Kandinsky, he helped teach
color mixing and theory later
in his life. He died in 1940.
Lyonel Feininger was born is
1871. He attended many art
schools and exhibitions.
Cubism played an important
part in his style. His style was
unique because he painted
colorful prismatic planes that
penetrated each other. He also
taught panting and graphic art
at the Bauhaus. Feininger is
known to be a pioneer of the
comic strip. He died in New
York in 1956. 9
