2. We will review the meanings of the new
banking words we learned yesterday.
3. We will learn about bank services by looking at
bank websites.
4. We will read and write about a personal
financial plan and will do research to find the

3. Journal writing:
What are your goals?
Let’s talk first…
What is a goal?
Why is it important to set goals?
In your journal, answer these
questions:
What are your goals for this
class?
What are your goals for your
future?
5. What’s your role at the bank?
Everyone gets a card that tells
what their “role” is at the bank.
First, find someone with the same
“role” as you.
Example, if I am a teller, I will find
another person that is a teller.
Next, find someone who:
You could help at the bank
Example: if you are a teller, find a customer
Or, find someone who could help you at
the bank
Example: if you are a customer, find a loan
officer.
7. Goals….part 2
You have already been thinking about your
educational goals today…
But what else can you set goals for?
8. Goals, part 2…

9. What do you do when you want
to buy something and you don’t
have enough money for it?
You plan your finances (money) by making a
financial plan.
Let’s look at an example:
Kim and her husband are planning their finances.
(page 90)
What is their goal?
To buy a _______________.
10. Now, let’s think about a financial
plan for each of us.
Is saving money easier for you now than it
was in the past?
Advice?
Budget example
11. Get ready to write…
What are you hoping to buy in the future?
Why?
How will you save the money you will
need?
What do you already do to save money?
Coupons, buy things on sale…
When do you think you will reach your
goal?
How will your new purchase help you?
12. Example: Teacher Andrea’s Financial Plan
In the future, I am hoping to buy a new
laptop computer because the one I have is very
old and does not work all the time. My plan for
saving the money I will need is to put $50 in my
savings account every month. I will also save all
of my coins in a jar, and when it is full, I will
deposit that money in my savings account, too.
I save money now by using coupons, taking
my lunch to work, and waiting to buy something
I want until it’s on sale. I think it will take me
one year to reach my goal. My new computer
will help me get things done faster for work and
will help me talk with friends who live far away.
