The DataXu data platform evaluates 1.5 million online ad opportunities every second for our customers, allowing them to manage and optimize their marketing investments across all digital channels. DataXu employs a wide range of AWS services: Cloud Front, Cloud Trail, CloudWatch, Data Pipeline, Direct Connect, Dynamo DB, EC2, EMR, Glacier, IAM, Kinesis, RDS, Redshift, Route53, S3, SNS, SQS, and VPC to run various workloads at scale for DataXu data platform. In addition, DataXu also uses Qubole Data Service, QDS, to offer a Unified Analytics Interface tool to DataXu customers. Qubole, a member of APN provides self-managing Big data infrastructure in the Cloud which leverages spot pricing for cost-efficiencies, provides fast performance, and most importantly a streamlined user-interface for ease of use. Attendees will learn how Qubole provided self-managing Hadoop clusters in the AWS Cloud accelerated DataXu’s batch-oriented analysis jobs; and how Qubole integration with Amazon Redshift enabled DataXu to preform low latency and interactive analysis. Further, in the session we'll take a look at how DataXu opened up QDS access to their customers using QDS user interface thereby providing them with a single tool for both batch-oriented and interactive analysis. By using the QDS user interface buyers of the DataXu data service could perform all manner of analysis against the data stored in their AWS S3 bucket. This is from the talk I gave at the 30th Anniversary NoCOUG meeting in San Jose, CA. We all know that data warehouses and best practices for them are changing dramatically today. As organizations build new data warehouses and modernize established ones, they are turning to Data Warehousing as a Service (DWaaS) in hopes of taking advantage of the performance, concurrency, simplicity, and lower cost of a SaaS solution or simply to reduce their data center footprint (and the maintenance that goes with that). But what is a DWaaS really? How is it different from traditional on-premises data warehousing? In this talk I will: • Demystify DWaaS by defining it and its goals • Discuss the real-world benefits of DWaaS • Discuss some of the coolest features in a DWaaS solution as exemplified by the Snowflake Elastic Data Warehouse.

When statistical programmers or statisticians starts in open-source programming, we usually begin with installing Python and/or R on our local computer and writing codes in a local IDE such as Jupyter notebook or RStudio, but as biometric team grow, and advanced analytics become more prevalent, collaborative solutions and environments are needed. Traditional solutions have been SAS® servers, but nowadays, there is a growing need and interest for Cloud Computing. The paper is written for those who want to know about the Cloud Computing environment (e.g., AWS) and its possible implementation for the Biometric Department. The paper will start with the main components of Cloud computing – databases, servers, applications, data analytics, reports, visualization, dashboards etc., and its benefits - Elasticity, Control, Flexibility, Integration, Reliability, Security, Inexpensive and Easy to Start. Most popular Cloud computing platforms are AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, and this paper will introduce AWS Cloud Computing Environment. The paper will also introduce the core technologies of AWS Cloud Computing – computing (EC2), Storage ( EBS, EFS, S3), Database ( Redshift, RDS, DynamoDB ), Security (IAM) and Networking (VPC ), and how they could be integrated to support modern-day data analytics. Finally, the paper will introduce the department-driven Cloud computing transition project that the whole SAS programming department has moved from SAS Window Server into AWS Cloud Computing.
