2. VERB
The is usually defined as a ‘doing
word ‘ or ‘action word’. That is, it expresses,
names, or asserts an action.[such as walk,
talk etc. The verb also expresses existance
or occurance. The word verb derives from
the Latin word ‘verbum’ which means
‘word’.verb also express
time,mood,habit,coutinuity and other
conditions and situations.
3. AUXILIARY VERBS
An auxiliary verb is used with a
main verb to form, passive voice, mood etc.
The chief auxiliary or helping verbs are be,
can, do, have, may, must, shall, will, ought.
Have do and be are used as independent verbs
also.

TRANSITIVE VERB
A transitive verb is a verb which takes
an object.
eg : he arranges the file.
In this sentence ‘ the files’ is the object of
the transitive verb ‘arranges’. The word
transitive means passing over. The action
denoted by the verb passes over to ‘’ the
files’’ and so the files is the object of the
verb.
6. INTRANSITIVE VERB
An intransitive verb does not take or
require an object.
eg: she sites alone.
in this sentence ‘sits’ is an
intransitive verb. it has no object. Alone is
an adverb modifying the verb sits.
