● SWIM: Scalable Weakly-consistent Infection-
style Process Group Membership Protocol
– TCP connectivity between all nodes for SYNC
● Gossip used for probe/ack and sending
messages
● Utilizes Lamport clocks(vector clocks)
● Uses AES-128 for encrypting messages
– allows rekeying

● Raft is the consensus algorithm for the
Key/Value store
● Gossip is the consistency and data delivery
protocol
