and its affiliated national journalism training organization, in 2004
Responsibilities included management of $2.7 million budget; recruitment and supervision of 120-member staff;
development of long-term strategy for nationwide journalism training program; recruitment and training of Afghan
trainer team; coordination with nongovernmental organizations and international media.
In 2002-04, planned and co-directed workshops and weekly coverage of news, feature and social analysis for online
and local distribution, and special daily coverage project for Constitutional Loya Jirga in 2003-04, involving more than
100 print and radio journalists.
• Designed and managed nationwide training programs in civic journalism for presidential, parliamentary, and local
elections, in Afghanistan 2004, Egypt 2005, Cambodia 2002, Armenia 2002, Republic of Georgia 2000-01, and Timor-
Leste 2007
Responsibilities included design and supervision of nationwide training programs, and accompanying voter surveys
conducted by local journalists; management of reporting teams; and overseeing production of mass-circulation voter
guides for print and radio.
