sewage pipes: Shanghaiist
Ever wondered what becomes of the cell phones, sunglasses and other odd trinkets that you've
carelessly dropped down a public toilet? The reality is as disgusting as you'd expect, but at least you
can take comfort in knowing you're not the only one to misplace your precious iPhone in the depths
of the netherworld that is the public sewage system.
Recently, seven plumbers took on the filthy task of working on the sewage pipes at a public restroom
in Wuchang, Wuhan, and stumbled upon a goldmine of not-so-rubbish items.
2. One of the plumbers, surnamed Li, revealed that he and his fellow workers found key chains, sun
glasses, car toys and 30 cell phones.
3. "We something different every time we do the maintenance," he said, adding that they'd once found
a mini-laptop in the sewers.
They had even collected coins totaling 300 yuan while using a metal detector.
